Captures my feeling perfectly. I may or may not have been reading up on countries that are relatively easy for an American to move to at 1:30AM last night.

Renewing my research. I had Uruguay pegged in the first Trump administration as my bug out country.

It's a Latin American Catholic Govt. where pot and abortion are legal, healthcare is cheap, and it hasn't been run over by American expats yet. However, that was 4 years ago and things change very quickly in South America. It may be a horrible choice today. I can get residency in Italy via my great-grandparents being born there, but's it's not really a better govt option. Better food though. Portugal also appears to be fairly welcoming, however it's kind of overrun now and the locals are starting to resent it.

There was an article online about attorney's who handle visa for families who want to move to another country from the USA. They are crazy busy as the wealthy don't like Trump but know that Harris would raise their taxes so weren't happy with either one and were looking to move out of the USA. So you see it's not just little guys who aren't happy the 1% aren't either.

Portugal is one of the easiest places in Europe for an American to become an expat in...if that American has money. Expats in Central America tend to be white conservatives who hate living around Brown people. Figure that one out.

I kinda like Panama, myself. But not sure any Latin nation will be safe for American citizens, after DJT flings millions of them overboard into random countries to our south.

My DIL is a dual citizen from Canada I told her if she decides to return to Canada I'm going with her. I went to bed last night depressed as the vote count was already leaning red and I knew what was coming. I think the people of this country are a lot more ignorant then I gave them credit for.

Reverse migration was a thing during the great depression. People went back to Europe. My ancestors were farmers from multiple places in Europe. It's been since before the Civil War that I might have extended family. My only other suggestion would be Guyana. It's the only English speaking country in South America - at the least the former British Guyana.

I'm terrified, April - for myself, a 71 yr old disabled woman, I'm worried about my Social Security and Medicare (not to mention my sanity), for the Country I'm worried about everything from economics, racist actions, future pandemics, his choices for cabinet members, etc! And I'm worried about the rest of the world - how will other countries, such as Ukraine and the Middle East, survive with his crazed ideas and vengefulness?

I agree as a Jew I'm not happy with Netanyahu. What I see is he is trying to wipe the Palestinians in Gaza and if he gets away with that he will also finish the job in Lebanon as well. Anyone who can't see the genocide that is going on is a blind and deaf as a rock.

Absolutely, Beth! I have a Jewish friend who is so angry with me because she thinks I'm against the Jewish people, but it has nothing to do with the people of Israel. It's that crazy-man Netanyahu! He's just gone over the edge. I am, of course, worried about what happens to the residents of Israel as they've suffered so much, but it all just needs to stop and it just keeps going on and on!

I'm devastated. And I have so many questions! What happens to all his legal woes - will they just go away now?? I was really looking forward to seeing him locked up in a suit the color of his orange face. I barely slept last night and when I did sleep I had nightmares. I'm just not sure I can handle another 4 years of this asswipe and his antics. And if he doesn't survive 4 yrs (either due to his own poor physical or mental health or the use of the 25th Amendment) then we've got Justa Dick Vance to contend with, which is even scarier in many ways. I lay in bed last night thinking that I'd be very lucky to get some ailment or injury that required massive amounts of pain meds that I could stockpile 'just in case' I couldn't stand it anymore. (ok, I'll admit it, I'm a drama queen in the middle of the night). I just don't want to become a burden to my only child or my siblings, etc. if social security and Medicare get fucked with in the next few years. Gawd, I'm so disappointed and scared! WTF is wrong with these people that voted for him??

All his legal problems will probably go away. The federal ones will be dropped by the stooge he appoints at Attorney General. The state charges in Georgia and New York will probably be dropped. His civil suits and fines may be wiped out in appeals. But we will not see Trump in prison unless they get him for a crime he commits when he's 82.

I read this on the *platform once known as Twitter* and agree at this point in my deep disappointment, "Dems did everything we could to stop him last time. Restrain him. Keep things functioning *as normal.* I don’t think we should this time. He won. This is what the people voted for. This is what people want. They should get it. It’s the only way people will learn."

I think you are forgetting homophobic. My former high school classmates who are in same sex marriages are really on edge. A white, gay male posted this: <snip> I am not inclined to be conciliatory or magnanimous today. I grew up gay in Stone Mountain and have experienced the abject cruelty of my neighbors and community. Any queer person from rural or suburban America is all too familiar with the rigid enforcement of gender binaries, heteronormativity and absolute conformity. It is why we leave these places.

Many of us lived through the early days of the AIDS crisis when we encountered levels of unbridled hatred and vitriol from straight America that seemed unfathomable, and yet was perfectly acceptable. We have been through the Clinton Era and learned that assimilation is not the same as equality. We have felt the hollowness of allies who are supportive as long as it is convenient and requires nothing of them.

Queer people have survived centuries of constant threats and attempts at erasure because we are resilient. We find each other and form community and family because we take care of and protect each other. And that will never change. We will be here and take in those who are discarded from their families, and mourn those who do not make it. We will protect transwomen from the unspeakable brutality they face right now, and we will mourn them when we fail, while the rest of America concern themselves with track and field trophies and bathrooms. We should be very clear-eyed: No one voted against their self-interest. This election is not a reflection of what America has become; it is the manifestation of what America has always been. <unsnip>

I'm suffering from a terminal condition, it's called aging. While I'm in good health and shape at 72 I figure I have about 15 years left so I'm not going anywhere. It feels like America has lost her moral compass but I'm staying and fighting until all the breath has leaked out of me. I refuse to concede to the likes of Richard Spencer, Nick Fuentes, and the Murdoch family. But the number one public enemy is the Evangelicals that believe voting for the devil is okay if the devil furthers their views and goal of making everyone live under their religion. Those fucknuts are evil to the core and I'm dedicating the next 15 years to doing everything I can to make them as miserable as possible. It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it.

Have to agree with a lot of your comments. We know this time and we're still buying it. I'm amazed that people are so emotionally driven, that they are grabbing one or two items that feel right and ignoring everything else, but that applies to everyone who thought Kamala would surely win because......

In less than 90 days, it will begin. I hope we survive it. And if we do, I hope we develop a better method for selecting our leaders.

PS - the polling industry needs a full and complete reboot.

I believe your reply is regarding polling. My point is that they gave no indication that Trump was going to win the electoral college by a huge margin and even the popular vote. Some analysts warned that it might be a landslide, either way, but I wasn't seeing the result we got as a likely result. I fear that I too was in an echo chamber. It's making me rethink social media, might take a long break, partly for mental health.

Since there's an outbreak, again, of avian flu which kills chickens and dairy cattle, look for the price of eggs, milk, beef to go way up again. Oh, wait! The Orange Snake and RFK Jr are experts in everything, so they'll come up with a way to cure the critters - no vaccines of course.

You certainly have that right. It won't take long for the s**t to hit the fan it will be all over them it will be fun to see how they deal with it. But worse than that is going to be the no vaccines that RFK Jr wants to put in place. Just think how many sick children there will be and adults will get caught up in it because they were never vaccinated. The measles are one of the worst things to have running loose. Children will die and so will adults if this happens.

Still reeling TWO days later.

Was cleaning up cat puke earlier today and had to keep myself from retching and adding to it.

All I could think was HTF could ANY woman, POC, person of Latin heritage or person with an IQ over 100 vote for the OFT aka 🍊🖕💩??? And why FFS, WHY?

I have so many friends and family I worry about after the next 78 days. Never mind the FOUR EFFING YEARS OF THIS ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT CRAP that I and most of America managed to survive once before. (Except for my sister and husband who both died from and during COVID in March 2021).

I survived COVID (Second Time), Endometrial Cancer and Kidney Stone Sepsis (just barely) earlier this year. I didn't think things could possibly have get worse.

I was SO WRONG. So I join you Clay, in asking WTF AMERICA???

Your cartoon is a testimonial to the power of the great host/mass of the intellectually unwashed and morally depraved. Their cultish act has brought us a new dark age where the predictions of our dystopian future found in IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE, 1984 or SHADOW ON THE LAND are guaranteed. That future will combine autocracy, plutocracy and theocracy and will outlast all of us living today.
