Stupid and Gullible
Iranian fundamentalists are smarter than Republican fundamentalists
Before they would move his nomination beyond committee, Republican Sens. John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina demanded that acting Attorney General Todd Blanche agree in writing that the $1.8 billion slush fund for MAGA terrorists be canceled and that the IRS audit immunity for Donald Trump and his corrupt trust fund babies be scaled back. They got none of that, but today, both senators voted to advance his nomination beyond committee.
Cornyn and Tillis were acting tough and pretending like they have principles beyond cultism, but it was all for show because at the end of the day, they both folded like cheap umbrellas.
Sure, Blanche promised to cancel the slush fund, but Donald Trump hasn't signed onto it. In fact, Donald Trump swore yesterday that he's pushing it forward. And the IRS immunity deal still stands where it was last week. The immunity deal promises to save Donald Trump over $100 million in federal taxes. By the way, did you enjoy being tax-exempt this year? Oh, you weren't exempt from paying taxes? I guess that's because you're not one of the special people.
There are only three Republican senators who have yet to decide how they are going to vote on Todd Blanche, and they are Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Susan Collins of Maine. Blanche only needs one of them to vote for him to remove the acting from his title as Attorney General.
Murkowski is probably a no vote because she may be the only Republican with principles.
Bill Cassidy is a yes vote because that fucker is from Louisiana. He does not have the backbone required to stand up to his MAGAt constituency.
Let's not forget Democrat John Fetterman, who is a Republican in disguise.
But Collins will probably vote no because she’s in a Senate race that’s in a dead heat, but she could swing yes if Blanche can come up with a creative lie to tell her. Collins is a dupe and fell for Brett Kavanaugh’s lie that he wouldn’t vote to ban abortion, which is one reason why she’s in a dead heat. Kavanaugh, as you know, went on to vote to ban abortion.
But it may not be fair to single Collins out as a gullible Republican because Cornyn and Tillis are falling for Donald Trump's lie. And the thing is, they should know from experience that you can't trust anything that comes from Trump's regime. They are trusting Donald Trump while one of his conditions here is that he be allowed to cheat on his taxes.
Unfortunately for the United States, Iranian leadership isn't as stupid or gullible as elected Republicans. They have been burned before by Trump, and they know that they can't trust him. Their memories are not as forgettable or convenient as Republicans’.
The Iranian leadership remembers Donald Trump pulling the United States out of a nuclear treaty that was preventing them from obtaining a nuclear weapon. They remember that Donald Trump started bombing them while they were in peace talks.
The leaders of Iran are horrible people. They are religious fundamentalists, and they murder their citizens while exporting terrorism. They are zealots and murderers who do not allow their citizens to have a say in their government, but they're not stupid.
Republicans are also religious zealots who do not want citizens to have a say in their government, but what sets them apart from Iran’s leadership is that they are stupid.
And it's not just elected Republicans that are idiots. Republican voters returned Donald Trump to office after he lied to them throughout a pandemic and staged an insurrection against his own country.
Creative note: This is the first cartoon of mine to feature a Donald Trump caricature since July 26. For those keeping score at home, that's a streak of nine cartoons that don't include Donald Trump's face. I say face because there was one that featured another body part.
I created this note just for those who cry that I only do “Orange man bad.” In your face, fuckers.
Update: Susan Collins has announced that she is voting no on Blanche.

Great. So Islamic fundamentalists have more smarts and integrity than Republican U.S. Congress folk.
A sad state of affairs, but a good 'toon, Clay. I especially like the line "folded like cheap umbrellas" ... I must remember that one! One word seems to be sorely lacking in Congress today: integrity. The cost will be paid by us, but also by future generations both here and around the world.
