Ding-Dong! Roughs are here!

Here are a few roughs drawn over the past two weeks.

This was submitted to the Fredericksburg Advance on August 9, but we held it for a week because my editor liked two cartoons I submitted on different subjects. We published one last week and held this for this week.

I started this on August 16, last Friday, when I got another idea on the same subject. Martin, (the editor of the Advance) and I liked the new idea much better. This was OK but it wasn’t very funny.

This was drawn on August 5 and for some reason, I couldn’t get into this drawing. I started over and it came out like this.

I drew this on August 6, the day Vice President Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. I wasn’t feeling it.

This was drawn on the same day, August 6. I dug it and the finished version looks like this. You’ll notice I changed the lyrics.

This was drawn on August 7 for the Advance. It didn’t go anywhere.

This was also drawn for the Advance on August 7. It too fell flat, and after I put some research into it. But I don’t think banning books is going to boost your college readiness, King George County.

This was for the Advance, drawn on August 10. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

This was drawn on August 9. I liked it but I saw that a couple of other cartoonists drew similar cartoons, so I let it go. I drew this instead.

I drew this on August 11 and it turned into an official cartoon.

I drew this on August 13 and I struggled with it. A lot of people complimented me on the finished artwork but I don’t think it’s very good.
