There's a variation on that joke.

Somebody could kidnap Trump and demand a ransom for his return. The kidnapper could also offer to *keep* Trump in return for a kind of reverse ransom. The bidding war could be really amusing.

I wanna make it clear that real kidnapping is a truly heinous thing that I wouldn't wish on anyone, including a political figure who I strongly disagree with.

But, as the basis for a reality TV show - which are never based on actual reality - it might be a winner.

Your proposal about kidnapping reminds me of "The Ransom of Redchief", a marvelous short story about the kidnapping of an incorrigible child. (written by O.Henry. It's one of the nicknames my father assigned me in the 1950s.)
