If I was still teaching I would be using some of your cartoon posts to start conversations in my classroom about science and current events.
Oh I wish you were teaching still. My hs civics teacher always used news stories to teach. A long time ago. My niece, a social studies teacher, does now. What joy learning! I’m going to tie headlines & reputable stories into a virtual class in my work: education in hospitality. We must create awareness.
I have a friend from high school who made a point of telling me in a FB comment last week that the US buying or “taking control” of Greenland is a great strategic move by president-elect Felon, because other presidents considered it in the past. Sure, 60-80 years ago, until the Felon talked about it during his first go-round. I’m sharing your toon and blog to my FB, so he’ll see it. It’s the perfect way to needle him. I always appreciate the work you do, but I especially appreciate it when it lets me needle anyone who makes excuses for that Orange Felon. Well, needle, and hopefully, inform (though some people resist being informed, and wear that like a badge of honor).
I thought Idaho was part of the Louisiana Purchase and hence might have been Jefferson, so I di learn something.
And, frankly, I am surprised to learn that there are any homeless persons in Greenland. While there are several possible explanations, I suspect that the few that there are are insane. There are 55,000 Greenlanders. Copenhagen has about 40 perennially homeless people. There is a special police unit that makes sure they are physically sound and not molested. Indeed, the police who are sleeping rough outnumber the true homeless. There are also homes available to them, but an unwillingness to impose upon them. There is also a woman who plays saxophone - extremely badly - who hangs around Stroeget and has been playing the same tune (Misty) for more than thirty years. People drop a few DKr in her receptacle so that she'll stop. They are a civilized people, the Danes. The Greenlanders who live in Copenhagen are housed and many live on the dole. It seems both humane and just. When my mother and her then-boyfriend visited me we went to Tivoli. He noticed a Groenlandisk older man pushing a child in a pram. He remarked that he had never seen such an obvious expression of adoration on the face of anyone before. He looked beautiful with that expression (not my mom's boyfriend. He was rather a creep. If he's still alive - she isn't - he's probably a Trumper.

I've been thinking a lot about Felon34-47's desire to buy Greenland, the Panama Canal, and all or parts of Canada. It's such a terribly stupid idea, that it makes me wonder if he's saying it to get us riled up while he commits (or tries to commit) some other dastardly deed(s) that he hopes we won't find out about. It's hard to know anymore what's truth or fiction from him and his barrel of monkeys. I love both of the sippy cups today! :)
