WAIT - really? Family in Indiana? We must be mishpocheh! Ok. No. Mine are in Ohio and only some in Indiana. Wrong tribes.

You will tell us who you see Sat., right? Which of the lunatics who are "advising" the Big MAGAt are at the parade? In the "box seats"? (Where IS the viewing stand? It's hidden on maps for I guess obvious reasons.)

Be safe. I know it's only Thurs. except it has been a stressful anticipatory week and you in the midst of the red hats .. or is there a special target, er press area?

I've said this before somewhere -

Mumps - proven males infertility,

German Measles - deafness, severe birth defects, including heart problems, hearing loss, vision loss, intellectual disability, and liver or spleen damage.

Measles - ear infections, pneumonia, and brain inflammation (encephalitis)

Seems like every 40 or 50 years the crazies take over while the reality based people are all squabbling about something that can't be fixed but they have big feelings about. So we've had McCarthy and we've had Coolidge and Mellon for the start of crazy tax policy and we've had the Know Nothings and the Anti Masons - it just goes on and on. I don't think Democracy will ever work well as long as crazy people can grab the reins of the state and drive it off a cliff every few decades.

I swear the whole world is getting crazier by the day! One of my Senators (Padilla) gets handcuffed today by Noem's goons for wanting to ask a question. WTF?? And Bobby-Buffoon is just the worst idiot ever. I think he wants everyone dead so he can sit back and relax. If I weren't an atheist, I'd be praying like there was no tomorrow right now. Instead, I'm gonna go eat some nice cantaloupe and thank some good Mexican farmworker for picking it for me.

Watching the video of the take down of Senator Alex Padilla brought tears to my eyes. That, and the illegal, unnecessary deployment and politicization of the National Guard/Army, and especially the deployment of Marines, to intimidate legitimate protesters is too much for me. For the first time in my life, I am joining a protest.

I'm a retired public high school science teacher and I lived my life believing that I should share my knowledge with others. However, I'm so done with trying to understand or educate maga-morons.

At this point I'm wishing that the chemtrails - conspiracy-theorists would just choke on the chemtrails that they believe exist and die. Just like I want to tell flat-earthers to drop off the edge (any edge) of earth that they can find and die. All the rabid anti-vaxxers should go and live in their real world colonies and on-line viral bubbles and die.

The teeny-weeny part of me that still has some nano-particles of active empathetic hormones feels sorry for the minor children of these maga-morons.

However, my biology brain remembers learning that in Earth's evolutionary history, there have repeated die-offs of many species of many life forms. The dino-die-off from the damage of a meteor strike is just one spectacular example. Not all are massive die-offs like the dinos. Some die-offs have happened because of natural disasters. More recent die-offs of life forms are attributed to human behaviors (ex. pollution deforestation, mining, erosion, hunting species to extinction).

Maybe we're overdue for the species Homo sapiens sapiens (a.k.a. modern humans) to have a die-off. There are over 8 BILLION of us and we haven't learned how to be decent humans despite all the wars, disease and pestilence that we've inflicted on each other. We're not learning from all the pollution and health problems we're causing to the planet and ourselves. If our Sun doesn't fry all life forms on Earth with some massive solar flares, maybe some evolved future life forms will study how Homo sapiens sapiens arrogantly and incorrectly named themselves that way. Sapiens is derived from the Latin words "sapientem", which means sensible, shrewd, knowing and "sapere" which refers to being wise or having discernment. The majority of the voting electorate in the USA, demonstrated very litlle wisdom or discernment in the 2024 election.

Maybe future life forms will revise the taxonomical record and evolutionary history for Homo sapiens sapiens. Neanderthals are now viewed to have been smarter and more compassionate to their disabled and dead than previously thought. They were probably more wise and compassionate to their disabled and elderly than the subspecies currently controlling our government, major corporations and mass media. Future life forms may one day talk about Homo magas and their inbred descendants, Homo morona (Homo moronus - singular) - I'm claiming dibs on the naming rights of these subspecies for any copyright and merchandise licensing wealth for my surviving evolved descendants.

Future research will examine and find die-offs caused by the lethal stupidity of Homo magas and Homo morona, the larger group that existed beyond the geographic distribution of what was called the USA in the 21st century.

The scientist in me wants to study this now, as it's happening, so that I can contribute to the bodies of knowledge that constitute science. However, everytime I see or hear any of the orange regime and their adherents, my first thoughts are about Darwin and the phrase "survival of the fittest" (which means those best adapted to changes in the environment that ensure successful transmission and continuity of the genetic materials needed for life).

If Homo maga and Homo morona are our future, then it means we are going to experience a massive die-off of modern humans and our humanity... sooner rather than later. Maybe that is what maga-morons and their fascist friends want for all of us. Maybe that's why k-boy freaked out about the deficit of many trillions of dollars in the current budget bill. If the Senate approves that evil bill, then he won't be able to get enough moolah and minimum-wage-slaves to build his rocket ships and space station pre-fabs for Mars here on Earth or on the moon (because you know he's only taking people who have DNA inherited from his sperm) (shudder).

I would prefer for the maga-morons to just die-off from their own stupitdity. I expect many will die off when their exposures to microbes and polluted environments reach lethal levels (as defined by world health and environmental organizations because you know anything coming out of the EPA & CDC now is probably not reliable science).

Maybe we can save the minor children of maga-morons because the sins of the parental units should not be visited onto the innocent progeny. The rest of us are going have to learn how to work together more wisely if we want to keep being Homo sapiens sapiens, to save and heal ourselves, live happy lives and leave a brighter future for all of our fellow life forms and our planet.

Disclaimer: I've never taught in a high school. But I did spend 40 years as a research biologist.

Of all species so far evolved on this planet Homo sapiens is the only one that has manipulated its environment on a global scale. Except in details, human kind is no different from other species. Unlike Alexandra, I do not see humankind as any more deserving of extinction than others, but I don't see it as qualitatively different. We are well into the anthropocene. We may or may not leave descendents.

But Musk is wrong in his attempt to escape... to Mars or to the stars. Humankind is evolved on this planet and adapted to it. Unlike Mars. Unlike Triton or Ganymede or unknow planets and moons in other solar systems. Mars, we know, has an unwelcoming atmosphere and is covered with toxic regolith. We don't know if we can successfully incubate a fetus in its lower gravity. Feeding a minimum population would take far more effort than on earth, if only because there is insufficient light to grow crops. The expense in terms of energy would be tremendous and there is precious little evidence of an energy supply. Yes, in theory it would be possible, but it would be a miserable existence, exposed to harsh radiation from a hostile star, unprotected by our fortuitous atmosphere and abundant water. Earth is what we have and it has proved barely capable of supporting 8 billions of people. Why should Mars be able to support a colony of, say, one hundred thousand? What would they drink? What would their plants drink and eat? Would they grow protein in laboratories? What would supply the energy to accomplish that? Where else will we find reduced carbon in sufficient abundance to support mammalian life than on earth. Gaia is our home, like it or not Elon (and his short sighted followers?) We should not bother investing in a search for another home, but instead do our best to restore the diversity and resilience of this one.

NPG BELL's avatar

Yes! Yes! Yes! The perverse side of me is hopes that Gaia will restore balance/homeostasis with or without our help and also purge itself of the life forms that have caused the aggravation. In addition to microbes and natural disasters, maybe some well targeted lightening bolts which the conspiracy theorists attribute to space lasers?😃

Good blog Clay, but I have to say, you met a mild chemtrailer. They're all insane, granted, but some are way crazier than that guy.

Had one of them GO OFF on me when I told him not to be afraid of rain water. Rain was seeded by the chemtrails and that means rain is evil and he was afraid his food would poison him because the chemtrails were spreading heavy water.

I looked at him and told him that all water has heavy water in it, that it's nothing to be afraid of and he just lost it. So I told him to go complain to God because I wasn't responsible for the isotope ratios of hydrogen on Earth.

Too crazy for words. And one of them is running the health services for the nation. Nothing bad could possibly happen, right?

Chemtrails, antivax, and Gene Simmons, oh my! 😱 I somehow managed to live till today not knowing he wrote that particular craptastic lyric, but it doesn't surprise me. I was never a fan of KISS, though I do like Peter Criss' song "Beth." We may hear Beth calling this weekend, standing by Lady Liberty. Oh Beth, what can we do?

Oh, Clay, what a good blog about craziness, or at least, a different variety of it.

Of course the big news is about what happened to Senator Padilla in LA so other awful things have fallen out of the news. My favorite today is a vendor selling MAGA merchandise at Fort Bragg with preselected soldiers in the crowd.

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2025/06/12/army-officials-pushed-back-pop-maga-shop-ahead-of-fort-bragg-trump-speech.html

I think what is really happening is not chemtrails but shit trails falling all over trying to distract us from all the craziness.

Now that that’s over with, if the reviewing stand SaTURDay is metal, one lightning bolt can really speed up the reform of this misadministration. As could live rounds in the tanks, but that would be unprofessional and against UCMJ.
