It's so fabulous to see you trying so hard to get to where you need & want to be. Another five-year+ streak? No need. You did that already, so other goals await. Meanwhile, your pain made a lot of people very happy. <3

Eight years, but you are right. I've done it. Thank you.

CLAY! I am tearing up! This is so wonderful! It’s amazing! I hope your shoulder gets better. Any chance you can get somebody to come in and do a massage on your shoulder and upper back? Keep going on, Clay! You may not feel you are back, but we do. You will get better overtime. You will be able to draw better overtime, but this is fabulous!❤️

This cartoon is fucking awesome.

And I say that, not as a "good job progressing in your recovery." YES, it's great to see you making progress. It's the cartoon in itself: a few simple elements that pack a wallop.

Sure, I love finding Easter eggs as much as the next person, but sometimes less is more. Take a bow, Clay.

The (sorta) return of Clay Jones made my list of Monday Blessings.

I'll take the win on MTG voting against Trump.

You can look at any drawing you decide to do as extra OT. Sending the good but very wet vibes from rainy Southern California.

Be safe. The rains are scary.

I was one of those FB folks that said you were back.

Working your way back is more accurate.

And more to be admired!!!

You are a good guy Clay! Congratulations on progressing on the road to recovery.

Almost 2 years out from my stroke now... the triumphs are such a gift. The big ones, the little ones... for me it was finding that I could still play my instrument (a Greek hammered dulcimer thing), though kind of stiffly the first day until my arms loosened up. So congratulations. The cartoon looks great. And for what it's worth, it's making me so happy to see your progress.

Judy Barlas's avatar

Yup. I'm used to people not even knowing what a hammered dulcimer is.

It's great to follow your recovery. You inspire us all with your determination and perseverance. I'm in awe that you can draw again so well, so quickly. Keep it up, but at your own pace.

OMG! This really is a surprise! And so beautiful. It actually looks like a Clay Jones cartoon.

It’s a start coming back from a stroke isn’t easy Buch if the Doctors get hold of you within I think 24 hours you can expect a full recovery Good luck

Nice job. I feel the same regarding MTG.

It's just allergies, I'm not crying ... you're crying. Clay, I'm damn near giddy with joy seeing another post from you with a drawing, so soon after the one you did of the Toddler Turd since your stroke. I was so happy that I did the Steve Martin King Tut dance in my living room (it's my version of the white boy dance of power to honor your progress ... even though Tut was probably a brown boy ... but that's a conversation for another time). You make me think of Steve Martin because you are intelligent, talented, funny and passionate about your work. Hence the King Tut dance. (Not the wild-and-crazy-guy Steve Martin ... that one is kinda creepy)

So now that you've stressed out those neurons and muscles in both arms and hands, just chill for the next few days. You don't want to mess up your remarkable progress. We know that you're impatient to improve but pace yourself. The Bain-de-Soliel-Toddler-Tyrant and the Blonde-bad-built-bull-terrier-bitch will most definitely provide more fodder for your cannons. She still adores him even though he's called her all sorts of names. After seeing how Cruz, Rubio, Vance et al fawn over Demented-Don despite how he demeans them, nothing surprises me. It's like being unwilling witnesses to spousal abuse. The regime is genetically predisposed to behave like inbred idiots, so it's just a matter of time before they simultaneously horrify and entertain us some more. When you read the histories of the fallen "civilizations" there are always tragic stories of the excesses and inhumanity that precede the destruction of the power brokers, power mongers and their empires.

I was never a fan of horror movies, but living through these times, I'm starting to understand a little about how people can watch stuff that both repels and fascinates. Being a biology teacher I'm comparing it to how I am both repelled and fascinated by reptiles, except for turtles, which are cute to me with their shells, regardless of size. These days I feel like a little turtle or tiny pre-historic mammal, trying to survive in a world of ravenous dinosaurs who want to consume and dominate every resource that they can access. We know what happened to most of them (despite what the flat earth folks and creationists want to believe ignoring fossil, carbon dating and DNA evidence). Unfortunately, many have not learnt the lessons of the past and are creating multiple scenarios for economic, political and environmental mass extinction events for themselves and others. There will be so much to write and draw about in the coming days, weeks, months and years of this administration. So Clay, give yourself breaks to recover, heal and improve. We'll still be here cheering you on as we watch the madness unfold and we find ways to resist being sucked into the cray-cray of the regime. Everyone, please stay strong and stay safe.

Steve Martin is high praise. And I love King Tut. He's my favorite honky.
