Super, Clay! I think I might watch Tuesday night, possibly the first SOTU address I've watched in 50 years. It promises the possibility of learning new words if nothing else. High drama for sure.
Personally, I don't eat the bread with a burger. If I make it, I'll eat it with corn or a salad. If I buy one, I'll take the top or bottom bun off. :-) P.S. Del Taco has great double Del Cheeseburgers. And I can't figure out why In & Out is so popular - I've seen lines of 25 cars - nuts - next door to a Carls Jr or the Del Taco, both of which have better burgers. The burgers are made the same way, I get what I want on them, and have coupons to make them cheaper. And I got sick 3 of 4 times at In&Out.
I don't like State of the Union speeches (or any speeches) - I prefer reading them instead of listening. I want the Ds to go and then walk out en mass at his first lie - which should happen in the first minute. Walking out on him is a worse video than not having a full audience.
I agree with you about watching the state of the union. I've watched it several times in the past, but in the Trump era, it's better to just watch news coverage or read it.
As for burger talk, I heard Del Taco has great burgers. I've never had one. Unfortunately, we don't have Del Tacos here on the East Coast. Next time I'm out west near a Del Taco, I would definitely try one. I visited an In-N-Out in Vegas, and it was a good burger, but over hyped for sure.
Eva, I had my first In & Out cheeseburger since Oct. 2016 just this past Friday. I remember the date of the last one since it was about 5 months after my gastric bypass surgery, and I tried to eat the whole burger, all the fries, and 1/2 a chocolate milkshake in one sitting, and I was sick as a dog for 3 days with a stomachache. I was so sick I almost called an ambulance for myself, but I was too embarrassed. It was SO, so stupid trying to put all that food in my new teeny-tiny tummy! Clearly, it was the work of a food addict out of control! Anyway, almost 10 yrs. later, my stomach and addiction are both healed enough that I ate the burger with only half the bun, half the fries, and no shake and felt just overly full for about an hour. Much better, and it really tasted great to me. I may have to go back on Tuesday night and get another one, but this time wrapped in lettuce, so that I can survive the SOTU address, if I decide to watch it. In & Out has been one of my fave burgers for years and the only one that occasionally 'calls my name'. To each their own, I guess! LOL!
Great 'toon, Clay! Like you, I'm looking forward to Abigail Spanberger's response, but I refuse to watch Trump's SOTU for I know it will make me want to throw something! I'm sure I'll read every word multiple times in the variety of news & commentary emails that will flood my inbox. If Nancy was gonna be there ripping up her copy, then I'd be tempted to watch!!!
Good on ya with the I can has cheezberder toon and the reality. My son (a chef) makes some amazing hamberders and cheezberders. And, in moderation, they are not (too) harmful. Five a year are acceptable.
Great 'toon, Clay. And now I want a hamburger, but first I have to go get some of those buns... actually, first I have to have my first cardiology appointment on Tuesday, so I'm living on low sodium food, and lots of bananas and berries. Dumpster is sure to have another melt down, especially if he can't stick to the teleprompter, which is always interesting.
I am not watching SOTU, don't want to give him ratings... I'm watching one of the two alternatives "State of the Swamp" with lots of our favorite Substackers (in person at the DC press club, but live streaming for those who can't get to DC - being run by defiance.org and special guests include several Congressional reps and the Portland Frogs).
I think Meidas Touch is doing a People's SOTU, because I read Adam Schiff is participating. Looking at the participant lists, sounds like several Dems are not going to the pretendsident's SOTU. I will switch over to watch Gov Spanberger (or bring it up on a different screen).
I did hear that some of the Dems who ARE going have invited JE survivors as their guests. Hope that makes Bondi and Blanche squirm in discomfort. I think dumpster is too far gone to focus on anything but his grievances.
Great, Clay. You are doing well with your diet. Good for you. I am not watching the SOTU. I would scream at him the whole time and break both phone and TV by throwing one at the other. 😂 And Clay, the toon was great--so impressed with how well you are doing. Keeping on❤️
Imagine how many points she would have won by if she wasn't "struggling" LOL. I won't be watching the State of the Union. I'll watch for Clay's rundown and a couple of other channels.
That burger looked pretty darn good and I don't expect anyone to do fries at home from scratch.
Great cartoon, Clay! Love the ear diaper today! LOL! Your dinner looks yummy, except for that raw onion. The fries look great, as usual. I may have to toss a sweet potato in the oven for dessert. Mmm!
Great toon and blog. I’ve never understood the in ‘n out fascination. Their fries are soggy. After waiting forever to get some secret burger for my son years ago I swore i’d never go back and I haven’t.

Brave. You’re brave!
Really funny!

Spot-on toon and blog(s)...

Clay, your drawings are really getting so much better. I'm glad that you're getting back to your old self. The body will recover with time.

"Everyone is so mean to me! Even the hamberders are against me!"
