Spanberder
Abigail vs Donald
This is the weekly cartoon for the Fredericksburg Advance, which ran a great write-up (good job, Martin).
Governor Abigail Spanberger has been selected to give the Democratic response to Donald Trump's State of the Union address. A response from the party out of power to the SOTU has been a tradition since 1966, which apparently is news to some conservative cartoonists and propagandists.
Martin is right. Donald Trump will have a response to Governor Spanberger's response. He won't be the only one having a tantrum, as conservatives are still majorly butt-hurt that not only does Virginia have a Democratic governor, but it's a woman.
Somehow, it has rubbed Al Goodwyn the wrong way while he's living in South Carolina, but at least he's only made one boneheaded attack, compared to the several by Dick Wright, who does live in Virginia, and is upset, but can't figure out why. Oh, yeah. He claimed Spanberger was struggling in her campaign, which she eventually won by 15 points.
I think Spanberger is going to do fine in her response, which I'm looking forward to more than Trump's speech.
Maybe I will watch Fox News the morning after for the Republican meltdown.
Speaking of hamberders:
I can still have cheeseburgers. That doesn't mean I'm going to McDonald's, or I can order from Five Guys, or get a Whopper. I do miss Whoppers. But the best way for a diabetic to enjoy a burger is probably to have them without buns, heavy with vegetables, and to make them at home. So I ordered some keto buns.
Surprisingly, they're not weird. They're actually good, though they're kind of small. They come four to a pack, which is also good for me, and they cost a little over three bucks.
I purchased a pack of four patties, and I cooked two of them, expecting them to come out thin. I was wrong. They were pretty thick, so I only had one and saved the other for the next night. I piled on tomatoes and onions, but forgot the lettuce. Oops. I added a thin slice of Swiss cheese. As you can see, my side was sweet potato fries. They were frozen cause I don't have time to carve up sweet potatoes.
The good news is that the next morning, my blood sugar was fine.
Creative note: This was not the first cartoon I drew for the Advance on Friday. I drew something else, and then I got the news about Spanberger, and I thought it was kind of too good to pass up. So I thought of this one, and I'm saving the other cartoon for next Sunday.
Drawn in 30 seconds.

Super, Clay! I think I might watch Tuesday night, possibly the first SOTU address I've watched in 50 years. It promises the possibility of learning new words if nothing else. High drama for sure.
Really funny!
