Good toon and good commentary, Clay! And Dick Wright sounds like a dick.

So, I am wondering what the fundamental problem is that guys like Dick Wright have.

Too many drugs when they were kids? Dropped on their heads? Bad diet with foods that may cause brain issues?

Or, is this just their schtick? Riling people up is a path to attention. Remember Andrew Dice Clay? Did people pay attention to him because of his clever wit or insight? It was more like his incite, if you ask me. (Full disclosure - nobody did ask me.)

Maybe it's all the same thing. People get a brain chemical rush when they eat certain foods, take certain drugs, or are stimulated by what they see or read on social media. Then, basically they become addicted. They seek mo, mo, mo. There's been lots of studies on this, clear enough for even a moron like me to understand. (More full disclosure - none of these studies are WOW stimulating like social media is.)

A fine mess.

That it's for attention is indeed correct, but the bottom reason for it all is money. It is very easy to make money by keeping people riled up, especially if you're willing to lie to them. As I've said here before, I could have made a lot of money simply by publishing a coffee table size book titled "Jesus hates Obama". Would not have to have had any content at all, it would have sold like hotcakes back in 2012. Blank pages would have been fine, filling it with fiction about Obama would have been fine.

Remember, Obama could not even wear a tan suit.

Things like that are why we need to make it easier to sue for defamation by public figures. Hiding behind satire is the excuse for FAUX existence. But they NEVER label it as satire and pretend it is not.

Good toon, Clay. I am quite sure Dick Wright and I would NOT agree on anything....

Clay — and fellow Claytooners — I’d first want to say that all Dick’s aren’t dicks! …. Second, there is amazing fury by Virginia right wingers — including someone related to me by marriage — who are getting their knickers in a bunch over the redistricting in that state. Let’s put this straight: if you didn’t complain or oppose the Texas redistricting which was a pure political ploy by the Repugnanctcans, you can’t now get all whacked out by the Virginia response. All of a sudden holier than thou. Something about “sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander…”
