School Bus Stranger Danger
Parents, do you know who your children are sitting next to?
This cartoon was drawn for the Fredericksburg Advance.
Why are city school bus drivers allowing strangers to board their buses? Yes, I meant to make that plural. There have been two incidents over the past year involving bus drivers and the Fredericksburg school system in which non-students were allowed to board buses; in at least one of these incidents, the stranger was an adult.
The school district is going to try an ID/scanner system, but I think they're still working out the bugs. I'm sure some right-wing weirdos will use this to say that if we need an ID to get on a school bus, then we need IDs to vote. There's probably a cartoon in that, too.
Virginia topics: since I'm drawing on something in Virginia today, though it's Hyperlocal, I'm going to pick on Dick Wright again. Sorry, Dick, but you're lying your old-man MAGA balls off here.
Let's look at your latest cartoon about “Dem” voter fraud in Virginia. What “Dem” voter fraud? I'm not aware of any voter fraud in the 2024 election, so maybe you're anticipating voter fraud in the November midterms. Or maybe you think that redistricting in the middle of a decade is voter fraud, but the voters are not redistricting. If redistricting is fraud, then it is happening in Texas, too. Maybe you should go live in Texas if Virginia is too liberal for you, or perhaps Virginia is too democratic for you.
That cartoon is a case of you lying. Let's look at a case where you're looking really stupid. A student in Fairfax, who is a legal adult, has been charged with groping his classmates at school. The accused groper is an undocumented immigrant who came into the country in 2024. So, how was that Governor Abigail Spanberger's fault? That's a serious question. How is it her fault? Even if you could blame the governor for an undocumented immigrant coming to the state, Spanberger wasn't the governor in 2024. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, was the governor of Virginia in 2024. Spanberger wasn't holding any office in 2024. That cartoon is so stupid that it makes my head hurt.
If calling out Donald Trump for shit he's actually responsible for means that I have TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, then what the fuck is it that you have every time you lie about Spanberger, who you're obviously obsessed with?

Merch: Did you know there’s a Claytoonz store? My cartoons are printed on mugs, clothing, caps, and even a Peezy T-shirt. If you ever want a specific cartoon on some merch, let me know, and I’ll add it.

Good toon and good commentary, Clay! And Dick Wright sounds like a dick.
So, I am wondering what the fundamental problem is that guys like Dick Wright have.
Too many drugs when they were kids? Dropped on their heads? Bad diet with foods that may cause brain issues?
Or, is this just their schtick? Riling people up is a path to attention. Remember Andrew Dice Clay? Did people pay attention to him because of his clever wit or insight? It was more like his incite, if you ask me. (Full disclosure - nobody did ask me.)
Maybe it's all the same thing. People get a brain chemical rush when they eat certain foods, take certain drugs, or are stimulated by what they see or read on social media. Then, basically they become addicted. They seek mo, mo, mo. There's been lots of studies on this, clear enough for even a moron like me to understand. (More full disclosure - none of these studies are WOW stimulating like social media is.)
A fine mess.
