Donald Trump spoke at a convention for Black journalists today and when I first heard of this venture, my first thought was, “This should be interesting.”
Why should it be interesting? Because Donald Trump is a big fat orange racist.
The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ invited Trump to Chicago to speak at its annual convention and surprise surprise, Trump accepted and said some stupid shit.
First, Trump’s interview before the journalists started an hour late. According to Philip Lewis, the HuffPost deputy editor, the delay was due to Trump’s demand that he not be fact-checked live during the event.
Trump was combative and insulting to Rachel Scott, the senior congressional correspondent for ABC and one of the three Black female moderators. We already know Trump is afraid of Black women and he showed it here. Scott was very professional and the other two journalists were very respectful.
Scott wasn’t afraid or intimidated by Trump and said to him, “You attack Black journalists, calling them ‘a loser’, saying the questions that they asked are, quote, ‘stupid and racist.’” You’ve had dinner with a white supremacist at Mar-a-Lago resort. So my question, sir, now that you are asking Black supporters to vote for you, why should Black voters trust you after you have used language like that?”
Trump’s response was his usual attack on women who ask him tough questions or criticize him. He called her…wait for it…”Nasty.”
Kathleen Newman-Bremang, a deputy director at Refinery29’s Unbothered, was unhappy with the association for inviting Trump and tweeted, “Well, that was just as disastrous as expected. No answers, lies on lies on lies, and blatant disrespect of the interviewers and the audience. Was that worth the so-called ‘journalistic objectivity’???”
I’m kinda mixed on this because journalists should give a speaking platform to the Republican presidential nominee. But on the other hand, why invite him when he’s just going to be rude, hostile, and lie? Also, why should he be invited when he’s also going to be racist?
But then again, maybe he should be invited and be given an opportunity to display his racism. I can’t wait to hear how they spin this on Fox News.
Many members of the NABJ were upset and said inviting Trump destroyed the credibility of the organization. One female member resigned from her position NABJ.
After the event, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The questions were Rude and Nasty, often in the form of a statement, but we CRUSHED IT!” Yeah, you “crushed it” alright…if the goal was to demonstrate how racist you are and send out more dog whistles to the MAGA base.
Trump was supposed to be interviewed for an hour but cut it down to 35 minutes because the questions were too tough for him. Who still believes he’s not afraid to debate Vice President Harris?
I think Trump has spent too much time in the safe environment of Fox News and forgot what it’s like to be interviewed by real journalists.
But the most vile part of this was when Trump questioned Kamala Harris’ racial identity.
Trump suggested Harris “was Indian all the way” before “all of a sudden she made a turn” and “became a Black person.”
Harris is Black and Indian-American. Trump’s claim is that she’s never identified as Black which is a lie. Harris was a member of a Black Sorority when she attended Howard University (Donald, don’t go there. It’s a Black school full of smart Black women).
“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black,” Trump said. “So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?”
Later in the conversation, Trump said Harris “was Indian all the way” but then “became a Black person.” He said, “I think somebody should look into that too.” What are they going to look into?
Previously, Trump has claimed that Harris “hates Jews,” even though she’s married to a Jewish man.
In the past, Trump spread rumors that President Obama was not born in the United States. He’s questioned Harris’ eligibility. He said, “Send them back” to four non-white female members of Congress. He said Black communities are “riddled with crime.” He’s attacked Black journalists in the past. He’s called nations with majority non-white populations “shithole countries.” Scott noted all this and asked him, “Why should Black voters trust you after you have used language like that?”
He didn’t answer the question instead complaining, “Well, first of all, I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner, Trum then called the interview “disgraceful” and he received a“rude introduction.” He alleged he was invited under a “false pretense.”
If you don’t want to be asked why you make racist statements, then stop making racist statements.
He also attacked a female journalist saying he couldn’t understand her.
At one point, after saying undocumented immigrants are“taking votes away from all of the people in this room,” a journalist in the audience shouted, “False, false, false! You just lie.”
Doug Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ husband, said Trump had revealed himself as “a worse version of an already horrible person.”
Trump was hostile, disrespectful, rude, racist, and once again…weird.
A friend of mine whose name is actually Karen messaged me after the event. She wrote to me, “Black Jamaican with Indian is my DNA too so she (Harris) is my kind of black.” She also included several emojis with angry faces.
She then said, “When are these people going to realize that not all Black people in this country were born here, and telling multiracial people we aren’t enough of anything is beyond insulting?”
Karen added, “I don’t have to prove my ethnicity to any of them just as Vice President Harris doesn’t have to either but I also recognize racist undertones and covert racism when I see and hear it”
That’s just it. Who is Donald Trump to question anyone’s racial identity? Your white privilege doesn’t apply to that. Guess who Karen’s going to vote for.
Creative note: How in the hell did I wake up at 6 a.m. only to finish my cartoon after 7 p.m.? I didn’t spend 13 hours drawing this cartoon. I had a difficult time finding the idea I wanted. It was evading me. My first subject was Maduro and then I switched to the Supreme Court and its lack of ethics. After I had finished my cartoon on SCOTUS, I got an idea I liked better…a funnier idea. After starting that, I saw the breaking news about Trump at NABJ and roughed out four ideas on that subject.
Watch me draw this cartoon in 30 seconds:
Here’s the longer video with the voiceover.

I'm glad everyone appreciates they can comment here freely. Here, you will not be censored or have your comments deleted. You will not be punished for expressing yourself, even if your expression is horrible and terrifying. Here, you can say whatever the FUCK you want. See? I said the F-word. Have fun.
I think the NABJ invited him because they knew he would blow up and say some stupid weird ass shit and he didn't disappoint them. It was a great move by the Association complemented by Trump's massive ego and narcissism with his stupidity cheering them both on. His camp had to be dreading this date from the moment he said yes to the invite, and I'm wondering if they had a limit on the amount of weird ass shit he could say before they pulled him. I don't know what was more amusing, the bile that flowed from his mouth or the gasps of shock from the Association's members in the audience. What did they expect from him, the male version of Mother Teresa?
