It has become "it is what it is". The stupidity, venality, etc. of the RW is niw so ingrained that the fabric if the U.S. is damaged; I believe it is permanent.
I doubt it. This has happened before. If they take over, their stupidity will crash everything, if they do not their party will split and we'll see the new party push the haters back into their hidden crannies.
However, change always comes with a cost. In this case, the cost will be amending the First Amendment to not protect absolute lies told for malice meant to pull down the government. Otherwise, friendly courts will keep on protecting them, despite their obvious intent.
Losing a few enormous slander suits AS INDIVIDUALS will put quite the damper on lies. Reinstating and enforcing the "Fairness Act" on all media will also help.
When freedom becomes excess, then freedom is reigned in. And we have certainly had an excess of lying over the last 30 years. Trump is merely the latest and most extreme, not the first and perhaps not even the worst.
I wonder if we'll still be pretending Florida is a "state" when there's nothing left but a couple of islands?
I suppose we will, the MAGA's or their inheritors will insist that 5000 people still clinging on and being airlifted out whenever there's a storm "deserve" two senators. Unless they start voting for evil liberals, of course. Then they won't be able to say "NOT A STATE" fast enough.
