The original is the best. I think "under attack by Democrats and illegals" gets right to the gist of what Trump says all the time. Love the toon and the narrative.

I think you made the right choice with the wording. And you worked in “golden age of America” on the sippy cup. Well done! And what Rebecca said above is true — donny is always going on about “Democrats and illegals.”

I'm glad you went with this version. I'm also glad I didn't watch ... I would have wanted to throw something through the screen after 3 minutes and would never have survived 108 minutes!!! I had a much better time writing a Black History Month post for my blog! Good job on eating healthy, but ... wings without skin or sauce? 🥱 Good 'toon, Clay!

On the wings, yeah. I know. I have ordered dry rub from Buffalo Wild Wings, which is fine for diabetics. Dry rub is the key. It's not as good, but it's the key.

Donnie keeps his bubble afloat with his own gaseous emissions — of course he’s so eviscerated the EPA that nobody can call him on that. He’s his own effluence!

A sizable chunk of my paternal family goes back to the 17th century here and some were heroes of the Revolution with two dying to help found a non-monarchy. (I know, I know. dt would deride those two as “losers” for dying.)

One of my great-uncles pointed out to me that he’d noticed that old families rarely opposed immigrants, possibly because we’d seen so many become part of our country through hard work despite hardships. He said it was usually second or third generation immigrants who were detached from their own families’ histories who most objected to newcomers.

I mentioned that to a dear friend I’ve known for over sixty years whose family has been here for only a few generations and she told me that her own grandfather said something similar, that he wanted her to listen and learn about their own arrival here and what they had to conquer because he had seen the descendants of friends who failed to learn begin acting entitled with them wanting to deny to others the opportunity to work hard for self-betterment.

As she pointed out, the two perspectives were different but what both of the elders taught us was the same thing, that this is a successful melting pot when we let it be one and when we honor and learn from surmounted hardships and respect those who surmount them.

Good for them.

Myself, I see no contradiction between believing there should not be undocumented people in America and making it much easier to get work visa's and (essentially) documentation.

This whole issue could go away in six months if sanity ruled Washington DC.

I, too, love the original.

Kudos to Al Green, to the survivors who bravely attended, though they were never acknowledged, and to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, for speaking out against the racist rants.

Agree, Abigail gave a great rebuttal.

I feel like this comic should be accompanied by the song "Pop Goes The Weasel".

Laughed at your comment: However, I really enjoyed the carrots and celery, which means “eating” right is starting to affect me.

My meal tonight was hummus & pita chips, red bell pepper, pear and celery followed with some BlueBell Vanilla Ice Cream, 2 cookies and some nuts. Balance!

Clay Jones's avatar

So your protein was nuts? That's nuts.

David Yohalem's avatar

Hummus is also fairly high in protein, as it's made from chickpeas (garbanzos) and tahini (sesame paste.)

So well done. I see Peezy! The sippy cup writing is perfect. even when I enlarge the toon, I cannot make out the ear bandage photo. Someone will have to help me there.

John Travolta - The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.

Only because I used Google Image Search.

I was very impressed until you mentioned Google. Ha ha ha.

Thanks- I never would’ve gotten that but once you told me, I do see it!

Great cartoon and blog! I think you made the right choice with wording (and the sippy cup is priceless!). Dinner looks good! For future reference, there's a brand of sugar-free sauces and dressings from Walden Farms (or something like that) that used to be pretty good. I haven't had it in ages, so that may have changed, but it might be good as a dipping sauce for the veggie sticks and even the chicken wings. And I think they were all zero calories! Keep on taking such good care of yourself. I'm so glad you're still around and doing so well, Clay! <3

Yes indeed. I was going to read the transcript (I refuse to listen to Trump speak) but I've decided to let that go because of the irrelevant crap (like hockey players) he brought in. A long boring read about nothing.

But that's something Democrats have to learn, how to grandstand in the big way. That's a large part of Trump's appeal. Another piece of it is that he speaks to groups like farmers and tells them he understands and will help them. He lies, of course, but this is just par for Trump.

And finally, if you want the MAGA's to peel off Trump, you have to tell them you know best and they don't. Talk like you love em' and you're grandpa who has seen it all.

Policy is for intellectuals. Emotion drives everyone else. So ya gotta be Daddy in these days of everyone thinking they "know" public figures. Guess what, intellectual types are grossly outnumbered by the "not intellectuals".

The original is the right choice.

I never watch the SOTU especially with Trump but I was reading in the NYT about some viewers' responses and was upset by the naivete of a young nursing student who liked a lot of things he said about health and his prescription drugs plan but didn't seem to understand that his plan will have minimal effect for most people and everything else was BS.

As for your chicken wings, leave the skin on to cook them or they will dry out. I found lots of keto recipes for wings and dips online.

EXACTLY! Throw out some stuff about some program that means nothing to 99.5% of the people, and many will just eat it up and then pass right by all the stuff about "it doesn't work".

IT'S ABOUT THE VOTES! Dems take heed!

Thanks for taking one for the team to watch the s**t show and confirm what we expected would come out of the Conman in chief’s pie hole.

Can you imagine how much it stinks inside of Donnie's bubble??

I'm a little sad that Peezy and his pizza aren't in the same bubble 😢

Great drawing, as usual.

I agree with Laura and my fellow Peezeheads: The original that you went with was the way to go. Much better use of "Golden Age" on that sippy cup text. Heh. My Inner Adolescent is alive and well--and still far more mature than DJT ever will be.

Start experimenting with sauce recipes for future chicken, wings or otherwise, so your meals this summer will be more tasty than this one proved to be. Summer will eventually get here, dontcha know.

I think Laura was right.

I think it’s a hockey player??

Clay Jones's avatar

It is not, but I meant to email you to thank you so much for your recent support. You rock, Deborah. I'm so glad you commented tonight.

You are welcome. I still can’t figure it out. I’ll look in the morning with not so tired eyes or someone will figure it out.
