Rodney King riots of 1992? I'm guessing that he's more interested in riots from earlier, when America was Great.

Like, Birmingham in 1962. Or, Chicago in 1968. Or, even, Kent State in 1970.

He dearly wants a Kent State. He'd bloviate about it for months. R's would be screaming with joy.

Of course, two of the students killed at Kent State we not even part of the protest. Just crossing the campus at the wrong time.

Not that anyone should be shot for using their 1st Amendment rights as a protester or a journalist.

Next Saturday, I plan to be at a Women's March protest called Kick Out the Clowns. They are happening all across the country.

Wow about Newsweek tho it does reiterate my point about their rightward movement about another toon.

Read (in another substack? elsewhere?) earlier today that this is what he did about Portland, OR - say the city was aflame and the PFD said NOPE. Where did I see a great video of LA protestors line dancing? It was peaceful. LAPD put out a statement that it had been.

Forget too where I read the ICE-empowered folks include J6ers and that the masks are to ensure unlike on J6 full faces aren’t captured. Wonder then who all is really “insurrecting” in LA.

For No Kings Day: we’re taking guesses: Inaug was moved last minute bc it was “too cold”. They tore down the expensive viewing stand. The Army (250 is greater than 79; they planned first) will set up by 6/12 we’re told. He himself could change his part last minute but WHERE do you do a parade with tanks indoors at “the last minute”?

Seriously, really: be safe. We expect the red hats to be everywhere on our Blue streets.

Maybe it will be another TACO event.

And I wonder what he will do when he figures out what 19 June is.

I was wondering the same thing. I guess the parade is center on his mind, and that's why he hasn't picked up on the Juneenth thing yet. Maybe when the parade is over and he's come down off his high of the parade, he will focus on June 19th.

I so hope not.

I hope he forgets. And if _his_ parade is called off bec of threatening weather he’ll be pouting. Too you’d think he and our military would be concerned about the US bc of Israel’s attack on Iran. Oh wait: that would mean intelligence and thinking. It’s all bad.

Trump's statements on this matter seem out of the loop, I suspect Miller is running the show and Trump's just getting BS that's meant to keep him happy.

I also suspect this is all about practice. For what? The 2026 elections, of course.

PRO TIP: Put the runny egg salad in a strainer for about five minutes or so before putting it on your sandwich.

There's a nice momentary distraction from the scary as fuck shit unfolding by this demented dictatorship. Stay safe, Clay, at the parade and in LA.

The horrible man and his general horribleness. With the malevolent Stephen Wormtongue Miller whispering into his ear.

I took a day off from live news, so thanks for the links to the videos/news articles on the less-than-lethal round injuries. It shouldn't be too hard for the LAPD to identify and appropriately deal with the officer who fired the one at Lauren Tomasi. There was no evident justification.

It's funny, I tuned in to live feeds from the protests and besides protesters all I saw was LAPD and Sheriffs department, no National Guard and I guess the Marines aren't there yet. Tonight so far it looks very peaceful. Does anyone mourn the 5 Waymos that gave their lives the other night?

Take care everyone. Looking forward to Clay's coverage of the celebration of the Army's 250th birthday.

Trump is not inviting a fight. He is attacking people he thinks he can get away with.

The protest was provoked and then the protest was attacked even though it was entirely peaceful.

Your description of the 'riot' is entirely accurate, from what I've seen.

Well done. I'm a bit concerned about Newsom's suit b/c Ike did call out the national guard re: Little Rock after Gov. Faubus (sp?) called out the state guard to prevent integration. Also wondering why news reports aren't including more on arrest of David Huerta (https://laist.com/news/la-immigration-raids-protests-huerta-charged). Shoot reporters? Arrest union leaders? Seems so dictatorial.

Every day in every way possible the MAGA's try to silence the left while gaslighting that they're the ones being silenced.

I wonder if reporters being deliberately taken down will turn any heads at the national media chains? I kind of doubt it, they're so in bed with bothsidesism they'd rather all the reporters were in the hospital than to call the R's on their lies and gaslighting. I watched NBC until the gaslighting was so bad (and nobody calling them on the lies) that I had to turn it off.

I'm having trouble with the ear bandage picture this time. My best guess is it's Ernest Borgnine from McHale's Navy, but I'm not sure how that fits with the toon. Also doesn't quite look like Borgnine.

Trump would really like the whole city (and state!) to burn. That would thrill him. I just saw on MSNBC that he's sending in another 2000 National Guard and more Marines. WTF. They didn't even make sure to provide food, cots, latrines, etc., for the ones they sent yesterday. Idiots abound in D.C.
