In case it seems cruel to put undocumented immigrants, and in several cases, documented immigrants, that’s the point. Cruelty is the point with this regime and the entire MAGA agenda.
Alligator Alcatraz is the name for a detention, processing, and deportation camp for undocumented migrants in the Florida Everglades.
White House spokesbarbie Karoline Leavitt said, “The only way out is a one-way flight. It is isolated and surrounded by dangerous wildlife and unforgiving terrain. When you have illegal murderers and rapists and heinous criminals in a detention facility surrounded by alligators, yes, I do think that’s a deterrent for them to try to escape.” My first question for her is, where are all these legal murderers?
The regime loves the optics of a prison in the middle of a brutal swamp. It sounds like a bad Burt Reynolds movie (as if there were any good ones).
Border czar, Tom Homan, told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, “Can’t wait for it to open, and we’ll put aliens in there as soon as we can.” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis described the facility as a “one-stop shop” in a Fox interview. Trump has the most horrible people on this.
The “prison” sits along an 11,000-foot runway at an airfield mainly used for training flights, and will soon house 5,000 migrants in a tent city. This sounds as evil as the tent prison racist and corrupt Trump-pardoned sheriff Joe Arpaio erected in the Arizona desert.
Trump is visiting the site today, thinking it’ll make him look tough. Captain Bonespurs isn’t tough. The regime is mistaking being an asshole for being tough.
The Florida GOP is already selling “Alligator Alcatraz” merch, and they had to be fast to beat the Trump Organization to it. The legacy of this may match the internment camps where the US government housed Japanese Americans during World War II. Trump is also planning a new camp in Guantanamo, and I’m sure DeSantis and Noem are eyeing other sites that provide great potential for tough-guy photo-ops. If nothing else, they’re thinking of the merch.
Department of Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem said, “Alligator Alcatraz” “and other facilities like it will give us the capability to lock up some of the worst scumbags who entered our country under the previous administration.” The problem with that statement is the facts. Less than ten percent of immigrants captured by ICE since Trump goosestepped back inside the White House are criminals.
As we’ve seen with the ICE raids, detention without criminal charges of legal residents for speaking their minds, deportations without Habeas Corpus, and incarcerations in a harsh Salvadoran prison, this regime doesn’t care about human rights. For one thing, they could have built a new detention facility anywhere other than a swamp. Some suggestions are the Memphis Pyramid, which used to host sporting events but is now a Bass Pro Shop. There’s the Astrodome, which I think is only used for monster truck events and flea markets. I’m sure there are some empty malls that haven’t been demolished yet for new parking lots. They could also house undocumented migrants at MAGA-Lardo, and it wouldn’t be the first time.
This regime cares more about the optics than the results. Who wants to bet that incarcerations in the Everglades and Guantanamo are more expensive than prison sites that don’t make exciting presentations? It’s the only reason Trump wants to reopen the real Alcatraz.
DeSantis showed an interviewer boxes of air conditioners as an example that the facility will be humane. So we’re to believe the tents will be air-conditioned.
But it’s a mixed message when you’re talking about treating migrants with humanity while also threatening that they could be eaten by alligators and pythons.
Of course, it’s all optics because alligators rarely eat humans, and pythons never do. A better solution would have been to surround the place with sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads.
Creative note: I drew most of the cartoon during a three-hour layover in Las Vegas. I finished it at the BWI train station, where I had to wait five hours for my train. I’m writing today’s blog on the train. I’ve been awake for over 24 hours. No sleep makes brain’s Clay go wonky wonky wonky wonk.
Music note: Sorry. No music with this cartoon.

I suppose it's too much to hope that POS steps into a quicksand pit filled with gators and pythons. Congrats, MAGAs, you have turned me into a sadist who wishes the hell you're bringing to others on YOU.
So deeply disturbing are these MAGAt plans, so inhumane...that I can chuckle at this toon has me worried...maybe. But then, the thought of putting this regime in AA really makes me smile. Love this work, but still wondering if the critters include possums.
