Trump's Cut
Is Putin the only one making money off Trump's war with Iran?
Donald Trump has “temporarily” suspended sanctions on Russia's oil to help ease gasoline prices throughout the world, but mostly here in the United States, where it is sure to hurt Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.
Oil is the one leverage Iran has in Donald Trump's war against it. Iran is effectively blocking the Strait of Hormuz with missiles and mines in the sea, and nobody wants to send their ships through the strait because of the danger.
Trump has claimed that other nations are going to send ships to defend oil tankers, but he hasn't named any. But even with a military convoy, insurance companies will not cover any ships traveling through the strait. Trump has said that the crews of the tankers need to be brave and just do it, though you don't see him on any of the boats.
This is a fucked up situation because Putin is giving intelligence to Iran, and may be helping them with some military supplies. Ukraine has offered to assist the United States with information on how to defend against Iran’s drones, which Russia has used against them. Donald Trump has refused that assistance.
Trump even admitted that Russia is helping Iran, saying in an interview on Fox News radio, “Putin might be helping a little bit, yeah, I guess. And he probably thinks we’re helping Ukraine, right?”
Trump even defended Putin helping Iran. Sheesh.
This is another example of Donald Trump helping Putin, even when it will hurt the United States.
Creative note: I was going to take the day off, but the air system in my apartment is going to be finally be replaced this week, and I don't know what day. So I figured I should draw a cartoon today and be prepared to take off when repairman are here this week, whenever that will be. I hope it's tomorrow so we can get it over with.
I'm voting yes. I was wondering why I had not received my mail-in ballot yet, and I even looked up the dates last night that I was supposed to receive it by. But on this Sunday morning, along with a few flyers encouraging me to vote yes, and others encouraging me to vote no, there it was. I was afraid that maybe I was unregistered from voting by mail or some other crap, and it would again involve me having to call somebody. I hate calling people. But I'm glad it's here, and yes, I am voting yes.
I am voting yes to redraw congressional districts. I would vote no because normally, I am against this kind of stuff, but I believe we have to fight Donald Trump's attempt to steal the 2026 midterms. They say this is a temporary fix, and I'm going to trust them.
I am worried about giving politicians too much power, and for them to change their minds later about relinquishing it. But I believe any unfortunate outcome with that won't be as bad as what Republicans will do with it.
I don't trust politicians, even Democrats, but will trust a Democrat any day over a shithead MAGAt Republican.

Why does it not surprise me that the war with Iran has been characterized as both an "unconstitutional war and a grift," designed to benefit Trump's family and associates financially?!
Love the sippy cups!
There was an interview in the NYT today by Ezra Klein. It reviewed our wretched history with Iran over the past 75 years. Executive summary - every single president got it wrong. Some way worse than others. Egregiously so. (Obama came closest to getting it right.) It was most depressing.
How do we always stick ourselves with people who are stupid with a vengeance?
