Donald Trump proves that one can be stupid and treasonous at the same time

Donald Trump has always sucked at history. He believes there were airports during the Revolutionary War. He didn’t know what side we were on in World War I. He only recently learned that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. He thought Frederick Douglass was still around. Near the end of his first administration, he believed Afghanistan invaded the Soviet Union in 1979, and not the other way around in that decade-long war…THAT RUSSIA STARTED.

It’s one thing to be stupid and ignorant and it’s another to copy Vladimir Putin’s lying talking points willfully…while also being stupid and ignorant. Yesterday, Donald Trump claimed Ukraine started the war with Russia, which I predicted he’d do a couple of days ago.

When asked about Ukraine’s complaint of being excluded from the so-called peace talks between Trump and Russia, Trump said, “Today I heard, ‘Oh, we weren’t invited. Well, you’ve been there for three years. You should have ended it. You should have never started it. You could have made a deal.”

That’s not just gaslighting, that’s lying. Russia invaded Ukraine three years ago which they justified with lies. How did Ukraine start this war, by having the gall of not being a part of Russia for over the past 35 years? Should Poland have made an immediate deal with the Nazis when they invaded?

Trump also called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “president without elections” which is big talk coming from a guy who tried to steal the 2020 election and repeats talking points from Putin, who’s been in power for over 20 years by imprisoning his political opponents and banning opposing parties.

Trump also claimed that Zelensky’s approval was at four percent yet a new survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology said 57 percent of Ukrainians trust Zelensky, which is an increase of five percentage points from a survey in December. In case you’re a MAGAt, 57 is higher than four. Of course, Trump also thinks less than two percent constitutes a “landslide.”

Trump also said that Zelensky was on the verge of losing his country, which is something Trump is trying to do.

Finally, Trump claimed Zelensky is a dictator which is something he’s NEVER called Putin.

Trump is now demanding that Ukraine hold elections which were supposed to be held in 2024, but in case Trump hasn’t noticed, there’s a war going on in Ukraine. Ukraine law states that elections can’t be held during martial law. The United Kingdom also didn’t have elections during World War II.

Zelesnky said on Wednesday, “If anyone wants to replace me right now, then it just isn’t going to happen. I wish Trump’s team had more truth. Because none of this is having a positive effect on Ukraine.” Dude, we’ve been wishing Trump and his team had more truth for nearly a decade now.

Trump has always been a Putin fanboy. He would attack President Obama while praising Putin. His campaign invited Russians into Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential campaign for dirt on Hillary Clinton. Trump colluded with Russia. Trump took Putin’s side over American intelligence while he was standing next to Putin. Trump has had private and secret meetings with Putin. Trump has given Putin classified information. When Trump tried to build a Trump Tower in Moscow and needed Putin’s permission, he tried to bribe Putin by offering him the penthouse of said Moscow Trump Tower.

Trump’s consistent praise and love of Putin, along with other dictators, should alarm every American, including Republicans. If he loves Putin and fascism so much, then that’s a huge indication of what he wants this nation to become…and what he wants to become. Don’t take this lightly. He’s already trying to shut down critics, the free press, and the other two branches of government.

When this illegal war started, Trump called Putin “savvy” and a “genius.” Now, he’s having peace talks with Russia that exclude Ukraine. He’s imposing conditions and terms on Ukraine while not doing the same with Russia. He stated that Ukraine can’t join NATO, which is a condition being demanded by Russia. Trump’s negotiators have also said Ukraine will have to give up territory, which is another Russian demand.

Maria Berlinska, a prominent military volunteer, wrote, “They couldn’t break us from the outside, so now they’ll try to destabilize us from within — through elections. And now they want to tell us when to vote? Putin, who has never won a real election in his life, and Trump, who spent four years in court over his own elections — these two are going to lecture us on fair elections?” Exactly!

Borys Filatov, mayor of Dnipro, Ukraine, and a frequent critic of Zelensky’s said, “We may like Zelensky, or we may not. We may scold him, or we may praise him. We may condemn his actions, or we may applaud them. Because he is OUR president, as he is. It makes no difference whether he is bad or not. And no lying creature, neither in Moscow, nor in Washington, nor anywhere, has the right to open his mouth against him.”

And make no mistake about it, Putin, Trump, and everyone who supports them are lying creatures.

Tom Stiglish, a colleague of mine has become a lying creature. What the fuck is this, Tom? Journalists, which includes Political cartoonists, do NOT take talking points from politicians, do NOT become cultists, and do NOT carry water for Vladimir Putin because the issue over Ukranian elections started with Putin. When you base your cartoons on lies from Trump and Putin, you’re NOT a journalist or a political cartoonist, you’re a propagandist. I’m confident I can educate and lecture you on this because I’m an actual political cartoonist.

MAGAt note: There are at least four lies in the cartoon that will piss off the MAGAts. The first is that the Civil War was over state rights. The Civil War is complicated but it was because of slavery, NOT state rights.
The second thing that’ll get their MAGAt hackles up is that the Democratic Party did NOT create the Ku Klux Klan. This has been a Republican talking point for years but it’s a lie they spread while ignoring who KKK members vote for today. Do I need to remind you which party Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms were members of?
The third thing is that J6 was NOT a peaceful protest and instead was a white nationalist terrorist attack.
And the fourth is that there were NOT “fine people on both sides.” Fine people don’t march with Nazis.

Creative notes: As I usually do, I placed the color in this cartoon on a second layer in Procreate. What’s unusual is that I also did the lettering on the second layer. I colored the chalkboard with a watercolor brush (digital, of course, which was recently gifted to me by Kevin Necessary, who is my friend). But the thing with this watercolor is that a brush stroke on top of a brush stroke darkens the color which meant that I couldn’t make any mistake with the lettering because erasing would make me add another brush stroke for the new letters. I know, it’s confusing…stick with me. I used chalk (again, digital) for the lettering. In the end, I did make a change which required erasing. It’s just one word. Can you find it?
