I appreciate reading updates, as well as whatever commentary on current events comes to your mind. And you know, I've been wondering how you're coping with currently not being able to turn ideas and inspirations into cartoons, so I'm glad you mentioned that. I would expect it's frustrating, but it seems you're also working with finding what you can do, and doing that.

Finally, something I've said to many people (including myself) over the years: Have patience with the process. 💕 Do what you can, here, now, today, and eventually it will add up. Keep on keeping on, Clay.

First of all, dear Clay ... you are NOT a "broken human" ... a bit scratched 'n dented perhaps, but you are NOT BROKEN!!! Second, a huge thumbs up and virtual hug to Melissa Colombo!!! Thank you, Melissa, for taking care of our dear Clay! And Clay ... we miss you more than words can express, but know that we're not going anywhere ... we'll be, as the song goes, "right here waiting for you ..." Hugs, dear Clay

Thank you so much for the update,Clay! Thank God for Melissa too! You were right there with all of us for No Kings Day because you know what? The whole damn country has ignored the shoulder pain and we have collectively suffered a massive stroke, and our asses are still hanging out.

Recovery will be slow, but first we need to drain the white supremacy idiot from our national brain,so work on your cartoons. I will wait.

You had better check with Melissa, I bet that dog has too done some shit. Hopefully not in your apartment.

Hope that at least made you smile.

Wow! you really have gone through quite a lot and I’m sorry. It sounds like you are on the road to recovery and your attitude is going to help get you back to 100%.

I noticed you didn’t list a GoFundMe page on your list of places to make donations. It was linked in the FXBG Advance this morning and that’s how I made a donation. I’m thinking you might want to let your subscribers/friends/family/fans know it’s an option. Just saying.

It is also posted all over FB annd by other cartoonists. And if anyone wants to use Zelle (I did) it’s Clayton [fency right?!] Jones. It goes direct into his account. If there’s more than one, message me & I’ll provide more.

Thanks for the blog. Really missing your daily humor. Wishing you a quick and full recovery!

Thanks for this full explanation. What you did is typical I’ve heard - ignoring then doing stuff and ignoring. I’m glad you don’t have a car: one friend experiencing this drove himself to the ER.

Melissa Colombo thank you again. It’s great to see your radiant smoke that goes with your kindness.

Clay - yes we’d love to hear your take with or without ‘toons on the continued horrors like the murdered Trinidad & Tobago fishermen. And I wanna know how you’re doing and the stuff they put you through. It’s educational for any of us who could. Talk ideas into the Mac for other stuff. Do what you wanna to get outta there.

Are you getting Occupational Therapy? They would work more specifically with recovery of your arm/hand. Sending you wishes for a quick recovery!

Ah, Clay, keep talking at us, even if you have to wait a bit to draw at us. I need to hear whatever you have to say. Godspeed with your recovery..I appreciate you and your wry, ribald sense of humor. Helps keep me sane. Your right hand will recover with new nuances to add..take care, be well..

LOL. I think Peezy just enjoys a good game. And I think Peezy is not amused by dubious referee calls. The Vikes played sloppily; no argument there. But I'm not the only one who questioned the reversed call on their second touchdown: the slo-mo footage looked good to me.

I did a search online about that touchdown, and found that all the refs on the field considered it a valid touchdown. What happened is that the footage was reviewed by the NFL in New York, and THEY were the ones who decreed it wasn't a "real" touchdown. I always thought it was refs at the game reviewing the footage, not people sitting in a remote office in another state. Basically, damn near everyone but those remote reviewers thinks it was a touchdown. And the guy who made the touchdown is PISSED.

P.S. - I hope Clay is enjoying reading our tangential conversations in the comments. 😊

We love hearing from you, Clay, whether it's words or cartoons! :) It's all good, just knowing you're still with us! And bless Melissa for taking such good care of you and your apartment. The dog doesn't need to do a thing except keep looking cool. Btw, my mom's strokes started with shoulder pain and arm tingling. Because she was only about 43, the docs never considered she was having a stroke. It went on for months, with them telling her she had a pinched nerve. Of course, she was driving around, doing as much normal life as she could during this whole time, etc. It wasn't til she woke up one morning paralysed on her right side and unable to speak except jumbled noises, that they thought "Hmmm - maybe she's had a stroke!". Glad yours was figured out sooner than my mom's! I'm glad they're working you hard and you're willing to do the work! I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts when you've got the time and energy! <3

if you need to scream or talk or berate someone at odd hours, let me know. i'm retired, and can be available over the innertoobz from the seattle area 24/7 ... having spent some time in ICUs, i know how much "fun" it can be when the only people around are nurses, especially in the wee hours... :)
