Excellent toon and blog...this decision is the scariest I've heard in a while. In other words, Democrats cannot win without a miracle.

Good try Virginia. This proves down ballot choices really count. Good luck to the remaining states looking at redistricting. I wish we had gone further in California but we just wanted to level the field. Repuklicans want to rule it.

There are three "Ks" in Republikkkan. Now more than ever.

My emphasis has been on puke but yours is more true now.

The Republicans are not even trying to hide just how corrupt they've become. 😡

Why should they when SCOTUS and states’ Supremes are on their side? Oh and according to them, someone’s god.

How do any who agree teach children, grands, co-workers, ethics? Justice?

I wish Peezey had attempted to crawl up one’s nose to irritate the hall outa them!

Karyn Milos's avatar

Even so, I'd think they'd want to at least maintain a facade of "goodness." Maybe they're at the point where they've taken over enough key positions that they no longer care.

Joan Eisenstodt's avatar

You have more faith than I! They do not appear to care about any semblance of integrity. Or appearance.

Karyn Milos's avatar

Not so much faith as a fundamental need for people to make sense, even when I don't agree with them. 😂

Remember that old "balls and strikes" claim?

It's hard to.

I guess the bumper sticker that says, "I've had Crunchwraps more supreme than this court" now applies to the VA Supreme Court and not just SCOTUS. How shameful!!

The Virginia Supreme Court's ruling was a real gut punch.

Your cartoon and blog address this perfectly!

I was just thinking of a Steve Forbert lyric: "You cannot win if you do not play." This is more like "You cannot win if you do not cheat" and stack the deck completely against your opponent.

Sigh!

Really hoping the Indivisible marches and others like it make our voices loud and heard--and galvanize people to vote like never before.

Win by overwhelming the polls with a blue tidal wave 🌊

Republicans are working tirelessly to break Democracy beyond repair. That's why we need to shift to a system where every citizen is registered for governmental selective service. Then all local, state, and national government posts are filled by sortition (random selection). Ordinary citizens will serve in government for a term of several months and then be replaced by other ordinary citizens.

Unless the Constitution prohibits you from holding governmental office because you attempted or participated in a coup against the US government (Amendment 14). But what kind of POS would do something like that?

Everyone needs to read the HartmannReport.com from May 8th. It was absolutely one of his best. It shows exactly how the Republicans got us to where they are today. We need to take of it and turn it around on them. The Democrats need to learn a hard lesson in being heard, and they need young progressive people running to change the way things are done. We, as senior citizens, need to back them as they are the ones who make the changes that need to happen NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Joan Eisenstodt's avatar

To the latter 🤣🤬😂

Next, armed men in the voting booth to even more ensure the right vote is cast?

Joan Eisenstodt's avatar

Would it surprise you???

Richard's avatar

Silly voters.

Revanchist , not conservative.

Joan Eisenstodt's avatar

Were I a Virginia voter I’d picket the court as I did to SCOTUS after many decisions especially Gore. HOW does one now convince anyone to vote by telling them their vote matters?

Richard Van Atta's avatar

Simply put … The Trumphukian CABAL has gerrymandered gerrymandering. This quashing of the results of a free and open election shows how these Fuckheads will do anything they can to nullify and discount the will of the people… No surprise—their objective is to kill democracy and install an ultra-right authoritarian autocracy. If they cannot squelch the midterms outright they’ll undermine it and/or the results.

We have to understand that fairness means nothing to these corrupt aggrandizing criminals.

One way or another we’ve got to eject these REPUGNANTCUNTS from the halls of Congress and from the state houses and the judiciary.

One way or another we’ve got to remove Trumphuk from office and his entire Kkkabinet of Idiots.

One way or another we’ve got to end Donnie J’s reign of terror and death and destruction here in the US and around the world.

We’ve shown we’ve got the votes. We’ve got to overwhelm the Trumphukians at the polls.

David Yohalem's avatar

It's not important how many ballots are cast; it's how many are counted.

Richard Van Atta's avatar

Yup …. We need BOTH … we need overwhelming voter turnout and must ensure the votes are counted.

When I was young we spoke of the "solid south." In those days it was the Dixiecrats. When LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 into law he remarked: "this will cost the Democratic Party for a generation." He was both right and wrong. It cost the Democratic Party its near universal support in the south, but it's been for more than a generation.

It's interesting when the state court decides that "will of the voters be damned". Seems to me there was some fuss over similar sentiments about 160 years ago.
