The Supreme Court is corrupt. For good measure, so is federal judge Aileen Cannon who threw out Trump’s stolen classified documents case on a bullshit opinion that corrupt Clarence Thomas wrote. It was an opinion no other judge agreed with.
Legal experts saw the classified documents case as the most lethal to Donald Trump as it was clear-cut he broke the law, prosecutors amounted a wealth of evidence, there was testimony from former aides and former lawyers, and it occurred after his presidency (sic) so there’s none of that “immunity” bullshit.
Then, Trump’s lawyers argued that Special Counsel Jack Smith was appointed “illegally” by the Justice Department which made legal scholars laugh. But suddenly, the day the Republican National Convention began and two days after Trump was nicked in the ear, Cannon agreed with the defense and threw the case out. She didn’t even bother trying to hide her corruption.
Despite Cannon's ruling that Jack Smith was appointed “illegally” by the Justice Department, the case against Trump in Washington is moving forward and the verdicts against Hunter Biden still stand. Why hasn’t a judge ever made this ruling before now?
In fact, Trump-appointed judges dismissed similar arguments several months ago in the Hunter Biden case.
Soon after Cannon was assigned the case, the defense argued there should be a special arbitrator to examine all the documents to decide what was evidence and what wasn’t. A higher court struck it down months later but it worked to delay the case. Funny that Cannon would appoint a special arbitrator and then rule that the Justice Department couldn’t appoint a special counsel.
The defense team made other arguments Cannon held hearings for that non-corrupt judges would have ignored. She canceled the trial date last May over other arguments by the defense. Where in the Constitution does it say a judge can appoint a special arbitrator to examine evidence?
Cannon did everything she could to help Trump. I wouldn’t be surprised if she told the defense team to make the argument that Jack Smith was appointed illegally. Attorneys general appointed by both Democratic and Republican presidents have named special counsels without the permission of Congress, going back years.
Cannon got her argument from Clarence Thomas, who wrote a separate concurrence in the Immunity case, questioning whether Smith had been legally appointed. No other justice on the high court signed onto Thomas’ concurrence, not even corrupt scumbags like Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, or John Roberts.
The immunity case wasn’t about whether Smith had been appointed legally just as the case SCOTUS used to overturn Roe wasn’t about that either.
Thomas was inventing a way for judges on lower courts to dismiss charges against Trump, specifically Aileen Cannon, who cited his concurrence in her ruling. SCOTUS had NOT ruled on that and it was just a wayward thought by the dumbest and most corrupt justice on the Supreme Court.
George H. W. Bush appointed Thomas to replace Thurgood Marshall, thinking it was better to have a token Black judge than maybe an actual qualified and non-corrupt Black judge.
To me, replacing civil rights icon Thurgood Marshall with the likes of discrimination champion Clarence Thomas would be like replacing liberal icon Herblock at The Washington Post with a Republican who draws bigoted and ignorant cartoons.
Thomas wrote that lower courts should weigh whether the office had been “established by law.” He was talking directly to Judge Cannon. But here’s the thing…other courts had weighed whether a special counsel appointed by an attorney general was “established law.” Defense teams tried to use this bullshit against Special Counsels Robert Mueller (appointed by Trump-appointee Jeff Sessions) and David Weiss, (appointed by Trump to be US Attorney in Delaware and appointed by Merrick Garland to be special counsel).
Trump lawyer Chris Kise said, “Judge Cannon today restored the rule of law and made the right call for America. Jack Smith is not above the law and must be held accountable under the Constitution.” It takes a lot of balls to argue Jack Smith is not “above the law” when representing Trump, who went to court to fight to be…wait for it…above the law.
This will be overturned by a higher court with judges way more ethical than Aileen Cannon who chose to use her appointment by Trump to be more of a fangirl than an honest judge.
Of course, after it’s overturned, it may be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court where corrupt judges who take gifts and free vacations and gifts will try to overturn it again in favor of Judge Cannon. While judges like Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and John Roberts didn’t agree with it when Thomas made the suggestion, I will not be surprised if they all have a change of heart later.
President Biden wants to reform the Supreme Court by establishing rules, not guidelines, on ethics and applying term limits. I also propose that no more federal judges be confirmed during a lame-duck period (after the election), as Aileen Cannon was appointed.
Aileen Cannon was confirmed AFTER Trump lost the election by a Republican Senate who was going out the door before the Democrats assumed the majority. This is bullshit.
I have an even better idea. ALL Trump-confirmed judges should be removed as Trump was placed into the White House by a foreign power (maybe plural, foreign powers, as Egypt may have bribed Trump).
Speaking of attorneys general, Trump’s second AG threw out the investigation of Trump being bribed by Egypt. Barr was a corrupt attorney general.
Every single judge appointed by Trump, 234 of them, is tainted. No judge should be serving a lifetime appointment who was nominated by Putin’s puppet.
They all sit on a bench of lies.
Cartoon note: I started this cartoon last Wednesday but then the news hit about Trump’s disaster at the NABJ convention. I had already finished one cartoon that day on this subject, then put it on the shelf when I thought of this idea, which eventually ended up on the shelf too. But I still liked this and decided to finish it today. Also, jerkoids were hammering and banging outside my apartment in the hallway making it difficult to think, so it helped that I went with something already written.
A couple of things to address: I got a check in the mail yesterday from a subscriber who wanted me to upgrade his account to paid. I was just about to send an email to inform him I couldn’t do that but I decided to double-check first and yeah, I can do that. Wow. Fortunately, he included his email. You’re in, Kevin!
Unfortunately, someone else did the same thing but did NOT include their email. I’m worried she’ll think I’m a jerk for not adding her. If that was you (I know her name, so don’t try to be sneaky), please write me at clayjonz@gmail.com and tell me so I can add you.
And another thing: Are you having issues getting into your Substack account? I’ve had more than one person email asking to help them as it seems they never got a password. I even have a few paid subscribers with this problem. I don’t know how to fix this and Substack’s support doesn’t offer much help beyond “turn it off and back on again.” Watch The IT Crowd on Netflix. It’s bloody brilliant.
Some people have had trouble even requesting a new password. I didn’t know my password either but it was saved on my Surface Pro. But what I did was download the app to my iPhone and then request a new password there. That worked.
If anyone knows a solution to this, please help.

Hi, Clay. Re: your previous Wordpress - it was a nightmare to log in and I gave up on several occasions. With Substack, I have a password, but it insists it isn't correct and then I have to go the email route, which sends a link from "you" that opens in Edge (which I cannot override as the link opening app), which I don't want to use as I have your site open in Chrome, alongside my other comic sources. Once the email link is clicked it does seem to recognize it in what I have open on Chrome. Extremely clunky process.
