Ice Ice Churro
ICE has an official procedure when it comes to shootings
After shooting two people over the past week, the Trump regime has ordered ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to halt most vehicle stops while carrying out its horrendous and racist operations across the country.
In Houston last week, an ICE agent killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Mexican immigrant who had lived in the country for more than three decades, during a traffic stop while he was driving to work with three passengers. He was not the intended target of the ICE operation, federal officials acknowledged after initially saying he was.
In Maine early on Monday, an ICE agent shot and killed a Colombian man, who was also in his vehicle. He was identified as Joan Sebastian Guerrero, according to a spokesman for Senator Angus King of Maine. A statement from the Homeland Security Department was unclear about whether Guerrero was the person agents had been seeking.
Tom Homan, the White House bribe-taking border czar, downplayed the order on Tuesday, telling Fox News, that it is a temporary action that would not impede ICE’s ability to conduct arrests. “It’s a short pause just to make sure we’re doing the right thing. Operations continue. Arrests are at record numbers. Deportations are at record numbers.”
At least 22 people being fired on by federal immigration agents since January 2025. Six people, including three U.S. citizens, have been killed as a result of those shootings, nearly all of which involved officers firing into vehicles.
Some people believe that this temporary order was enacted to help Susan Collins, Maine’s Senator, and her desperate reelection bid. She said in a statement earlier today that the shooting in Biddeford raised important questions, and that she had urged Markwayne Mullin, the homeland security secretary, to “cease all non-urgent vehicle stops.”
Yeah, you can't get much tougher than saying a shooting raised important questions.
Federal officials said the two men had tried to flee the traffic stops, but they did not provide video or other evidence to support those accounts. In several other immigration enforcement shootings, videos have later emerged that contradicted the government’s narrative/lie, and in at least one of those cases, an agent who fired on a Venezuelan immigrant in Minneapolis now faces state charges.
Remember how they lied when they murdered Renee Good and Alex Pretti?
The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that the ICE agent in Maine appeared for public safety when he shot Guerrero as he was fleeing the scene. How did he fear for public if he shot the victim while he was fleeing?
DHS lies and they're not very good at it.
Creative note: When Laura proofread today's cartoon, she replied with, “This is all correct but I admit it took me just a second to realize illegal in this case is a noun… I know that’s the sort of thing ice says though.”
I hope that people understand when I use something like “illegal” as a noun, that I'm using their verbiage when portraying them. Personally, I don't use it because people are not and should not be classified as illegal. If we are going to be classified as illegal for breaking the law then anyone who has ever jay walked is an illegal.
Oliphant: When I started in this business, there were four pillars of political cartooning, giants, if you will. They were Jeff MacNelly, Paul Conrad, Herblock, and Pat Oliphant. With the passing of Oliphant yesterday, none are left. I never had an interaction with Oliphant, so I don't have any stories to tell. I do recommend Jack Ohman's column on Oliphant, because it's really good.
Oliphant had retired to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where my cartoons run in the Reporter. I hope that he saw my work on occasion and did not think it sucked.
There is a small tribute in today's cartoon that no one seems to be catching.
Thank you: I want to give a big thanks to Paul and JK for becoming paid subscribers. Becoming a paid subscriber helps me continue to do this, draw cartoons and blog for you guys. I am relying on my readers more than I am on newspapers.
More fun with butt-hurt babies: Comments on GoComics reacting to yesterday’s Trump funeral cartoon, where there are over 300. To be fair, these few selections are from the same two butt-hurt idiots that don't know how to read a political cartoon.
Today's cartoon on ICE has received about 100 angry comments from MAGAts on my Facebook page, which means it's going to be a fun day tomorrow on GoComics.

Signed prints and books: I cannot take orders for signed prints or for my books at this time. So please do not send me money or place orders for them until further notice. Because of the stroke, it is an ordeal for me to get to the post office, so we’re gonna hold up until I’m fully capable of doing so. Thank you for your understanding.
Merch: Did you know there’s a Claytoonz store? My cartoons are printed on mugs, clothing, caps, and even a Peezy T-shirt. If you ever want a specific cartoon on some merch, let me know, and I’ll add it.

The little head with Peezie is your homage.
ICE should not even exist, certainly not in its present form. I cannot understand how any person can, in good conscience, be a part of ICE and still sleep at night. Good 'toon, Clay ... and I did recognize Punk down with Peezy! Oliphant, like the others you mentioned, were the best in their time!
