I can't imagine why anybody would want to leave Norway for the US. More likely, I'd think it would be the other way around. Honestly, the fact that anyone is desperate enough to seek refuge in the shithole our nation is deliberately being crafted to become should be a clue just how bad things are in their home country. But, this administration and its corrupt cronies remain clueless.
Other countries are looking at laws to limit immigrants, not all for apparent racist reasons. (See Switzerland; NYer article, June 8 or 15 I think.) I think many don’t want Americans.

As I said, I've experienced and seen mainly empathy, with some exceptions, of course; people are people, wherever they are. But I also understand that however much they may sympathize, countries do have conditions and limitations on immigration. And that's frustrating for those who otherwise want and are able to take an extended leave of absence from the US.

Oh, I’m glad I only get my news from you Clay, and a few other editorial cartoonists. I just can’t bear to read or watch the news. It upsets my system too much. Just shaking my head wondering what the hell happened to my country.
Some years back Cuban refugees arriving by boat were given carte blanche to enter the US while Haitian boats were intercepted and sent back immediately. Although both groups were escaping dictatorships, Cubans were welcomed and supported by a large Republican community in FL whereas Haitians had no such support network.
I will also note that Haitian ethnicity is predominantly Afro-Caribbean, with approximately 95% of the population being of African descent while the majority of the Cuban population identifies as having significant Spanish heritage.
