I honestly don't know who half the people mentioned are. And frankly, don't care.

That said, any of those folks paying ridiculous amounts to watch a game ever think of, say, taking an entire class of kids from a poor school to any of those games?

I also didn't know who most of those people are, but than I'm 85 and I can't see how that makes a difference. I also agree with Eva (above) about the use of such funds. Well-said, Eva!

I'm 74. I stopped following "culture" after the Beatles split up. IMO, the music after the 60s took a nosedive musically.

Clay Jones's avatar

I love 60s music.

And 50s! I watch reaction videos on YouTube once in a while. The amazement of younger folks who see the music my generation enjoyed! Nearly all of them say the same thing - back then, a singer actually had to know how to SING. No gimmicks, no dancing (gyrating) - just pure talent that didn't need anything else.

Autotune killed singing. You could put someone tone deaf in front of an Autotune loaded mixer and they'd sound great. Autotune is why all the singers now look perfect, the voice matters little.

There is a wonderful early Simpsons episode - sorry if readers are too old to appreciate them (I, too, am 74) when Bart and friends form a boy band who are auto-tuned. It involves a plot for recruiting for the US Navy.

One of my prized possessions is Dark Star by Greyfolded, a collection and tape matched for tuning of 18 performances of the improvisational masterpiece by the Grateful Dead. It took the taper who made it more than three years to piece the piece together and get it to sound right, because of tuning issues. Today it could be done, essentially instantly. I have no idea how it would sound, or if we could distinguish the old cut the tape and splice it in while re-recording at variable speed method. In any case, you can - & probably should blame - Cher for auto-tune, may she burn in hell.) What's perhaps strangest is that she could still sing when she used it. Made her millions.

I will never be too old to enjoy a good basketball game! And, at Madison Square Garden? Man, oh, man! That would have been heaven with or without a court side seat, with or without a free ticket, or with or without poor kids.

The extended Drawn in 30 Seconds was wonderful. It's important for people to understand, or at least respect or see the energy & commitment you put into your work. You ARE the hardest working cartoonist. Thank you.

11 Layers?! Wow!!!

Good one Clay! And, as predicted, the Knicks lost when the sleeping Dick Tator showed up.

definitely a jinx!

As someone (Clay maybe?) pointed out, Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay were courtside because they learned there was going to be a convicted sexual predator in the crowd.

Clay Jones's avatar

That wasn't me. I don't even know who they are.

CVG's avatar

Oh! They were the star detectives on Law and Order SVU (you can look that up if you aren’t familiar) for years. Mariska Hargitay is now the lead on the show.

Make sense?

Mariska also founded the Joyful Heart Foundation, which helps survivors of sexual assault. I'm assuming she was inspired to do that because a lot of the stories on L&O:SVU were taken from real life. I was a big fan of SVU, but sometimes I had to step away because the stories were so sad / horrifying. I don't stay up late enough to watch it now, but I catch the reruns from past seasons on ION sometimes (free over the air channel, using a digital antenna). She's about the only name I recognized on your list - Taylor Swift, Nick Cage & Spike Lee were the other three, but I don't follow their work. The only Taylor song on my Playlist is "Shake It Off" & I'm told that's an "oldie" from her early career. Don't hate me Swifties! I'm more into 60's & 70s music (I'm 69). The younger members of my family (45 & under) are all Taylor fans & they pick on me a lot!

Good toon Clay. It's nice to have a break from you know who.

Excellent art work, Clay. I especially liked the detail of the portraits on the wall.

Seth Rogan taking over the ninja turtle franchise made me like him. Even though he's more of a producer than an actor. I also can't imagine anyone else voicing Allen the alien. If you loved the first few seasons of walking dead, you'll love invincible, even seth rogans character.

As far as nick cage goes, i can't recommend the unbearable weight of massive talent enough, where he's basically playing a parody of himself and pedro pascal is a billionare superfan suspected of being a black market arms dealer. Renfeld with him and Nicholas Hoult is also very good. The spider noir series is ok at best

Everyone else on that wall can eat a bag of dicks

I like Cage, but he makes too many movies. Too many of them are crap. I've never been a big fan of Rogan, but I do like his voice-over work on some stuff. I like him as the alien in Paul and as Bob in Monsters versus Aliens.

The US men's team just beat Paraguay 4-1, now I am worried that traitor tot is going to want to attend a world cup game and jinx that team, too.

It may have taken 11 layers and 12 hours of work, but please know we REALLY appreciate your effort, your attention to detail, and your commitment to get it just right!

You and Jack are my favorites, Clay.

I saw Mariska Hargitay in Every Brilliant Thing on Broadway a few weeks ago now. It’s a one-person show and addresses real mental health issues in life. She was stunning. As a Spurs fan, I can’t approve of her sports fan choices, though.

You may not respect those actors but only some of them are vaguely familiar to me..LOL Got a good laugh at the last line about Ohman being the hardest working cartoonist. It was interesting learning about courtside seating being a job for some celebrities and a kind of demeaning one at that

Pizza looked very Hollywood
