Why is ICE at the winter Olympics in Italy?
I understand that some US law enforcement should be at the Olympic Games since our athletes will be competing. Sometimes bad things happen, like in the 72 Olympics in Munich and the 96 Olympics in Atlanta. If nothing else, they can help with investigations. But ICE should not be the law-enforcement agency we send to the Olympics.
ICE is too busy messing things up here in the United States. Do we really want them mucking things up in Italy, where this year's Winter Olympics are being held? Are we really trying that hard to make the entire world hate us? It's bad enough that we are represented by Donald Trump.
And guess what. ICE is not wanted at the Olympics. Italian officials and lawmakers are voicing growing anger over plans to deploy ICE agents to assist with security during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, with critics warning that the move undermines Italy’s sovereignty and democratic security standards.
Current and former Italian lawmakers have urged Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to intervene and prevent the agency’s deployment, citing ICE’s role in Trump’s immigration crackdown, where they have murdered American citizens, such as Rene Good and Alex Pretti.
Remember, Italians eventually rejected Mussolini, and he was hanged by an angry mob. Why would they want Milan to be invaded by fascists like Minneapolis has? And why can't we learn from Italy's disaster with fascism? Why do we have to repeat their history with Il Douche, our Mango Mussolini?
Former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte posted on X, “After street violence and murders in the U.S., we cannot allow this. Enough with the bowing.”
Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala said local authorities “do not need ICE” to secure the Olympics and declared that the agency is “not welcome in Milan.”
He told Italian radio, “This is a militia that kills. This isn’t about breaking relations with the United States, but about whether we can say ‘no.’”
Opposition lawmaker Carlo Calenda said ICE agents “must not set foot in Italy,” and said the agency is “violent, unprepared, and out of control.”
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations unit would play a limited security role, except that DHS lies. Each time they have murdered someone, they lie about it. When they detained Liam Conejo Ramos, they lied about it.
Italians, listen to this American. Ice lies. They will not do any good in the country, just like they're not doing any good in the country that created them. They're untrained, and they are gun-happy. Two of those yeehaw fuckers shot Pretti in the back of the head while he was unarmed.
But, Italy, if you want, and you won't, you can keep them. We don't want them here either.
I love the Olympics, summer and winter. I love the opening ceremonies and seeing all the countries represented. I really got into the hockey tournament during the last Olympics, which Finland won. The games begin on Friday.
I have always loved the movie Cool Runnings. It's funny, uplifting, and sweet, even if it's not historically accurate. It was the last of John Candy's movies to be released in his lifetime, but I didn't see it until after he had died. And that to me makes it a little bit sadder. Now, whenever I hear this song, I can see clearly now, I think of John Candy. Since it is on Disney+, I might watch it tonight.
By the way, when I was a kid, I thought the lyrics said, “I can see all the popsicles in my way.”
Journalists: The last people who need to be telling us who is and isn't a journalist are right-wing MAGA cartoonists. What the fuck do Gary Varvel, Steve Kelley, or Al Goodwin know about journalism except how not to do it? At the bare minimum, they should know enough about journalism to understand that if they can throw someone in jail for doing their job, such as Don Lemon, then an authoritarian regime can come after propagandists and hacks such as themselves for not towing the party line. Don't like your ass about journalism when you lie more often than ICE does. All three of these idiots have presented murder victims like Rene Good and Alex Pretti as the villains after being murdered by ice. Spare us your lectures about journalism.
If anything, these goons should be listening and learning from Don Lemon.

Something the right forgets is that dt is going only partly by Project 2025 (which itself is bad) but also by Hitler’s playbook. Hitler and his reactionaries also posed as being a different flavor of conservative. Of course, they were reactionaries, not conservatives, just as dt and his crew are not conservatives. If not familiar with 1930s Germany look up what happened to those conservatives. Once they had helped Hitler attain the level of power he wanted, he no longer needed them and considered them rivals for the affection of his base. They were among the first to be arrested, stripped of their assets, jailed, and some executed. Seriously, anyone who relies on a fan base who thinks that there is protection in assisting someone who is following Hitler’s playbook is just setting himself up to be destroyed. Hitler was the dog which bit the hand that fed him and then kept on chewing.
