Bigots and Basketball
What's Fox News fear-mongering about now?
I don't have cable. I use internet TV, and I get my cable news through YouTube TV. During the day, I set the screen to a multi-view where I will watch four different channels at once. Usually, those channels are CNN, MSNow, BBC, and Fox News. My TV is usually muted, but when the volume is on, it is on one of the actual news channels and not the propaganda one. The only reason one of my views is set to Fox News is so I can see what bullshit they are talking about. Or should I say, what bullshit they are scaring people about.
If Fox News isn't scaring its viewers by telling them that illegal immigrants are coming to murder them and rape their daughters because Joe Biden let them into the country, then they're trying to scare them about trans people.
If you listen to Fox News, then you’re bound to believe that your child's school is going to give him a sex change operation without informing you, and little Billy will come home one afternoon as little Sally.
If you listen to Fox News, then you probably believe that no public restroom is safe and there's a trans individual just waiting inside the men's room at Target to take a look at your pee-pee.
If you listen to Fox News, then you probably believe that all the talented female athletes at the local high school will be kicked off their teams in favor of boys posing as girls.
If you listen to Fox News, then you probably believe that men are trying to play in the WNBA.
Throughout the weekend, as I would occasionally glance toward my TV, I would not see an item on Fox News about Donald Trump's low poll numbers. I didn't see any reports on Fox News about the U.S. attorney for Washington DC dismissing charges where she falsely accused a former Olympian of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. I didn't see anything about Donald Trump messing up his chosen war with Iran.
But what I did see was nonstop coverage about trans men trying to play in the WNBA. This was nonstop throughout the weekend and through Monday. If you do not watch Fox News, then you probably don't know anything about this. So why were they covering it? Because a coach in the WNBA wore a T-shirt expressing support for trans children.
As far as we know, no trans people are playing in the WNBA. As far as we know, no trans people are trying to play in the WNBA. It is a long shot to become a professional athlete in a major league, and since there are fewer than 10 trans athletes in the NCAA, it's probably an even longer shot for one of them to turn up in the WNBA or any other major league sport.
But if a trans athlete did become a player in the WNBA, it probably would not change your life at all. And it's not like any male player is going to get a sex change to take a pay cut to play in the WNBA.
None of that will stop Fox News from peddling fear to an audience that probably did not know that the WNBA existed until Caitlin Clark came along. When they're not panicking about trans men playing WNBA, they're losing their shit over all the black girls being mean to poor poor white Caitlyn.
How many more bigoted cartoons will I see from my right-wing colleagues on this?
There are 92 days until the midterms.
Correction: Lesley wrote to inform me that I got one thing wrong. It would not be trans men playing in the WNBA; it would be trans women, as in identified as male at birth who have transitioned to female. Trans men are identified as female at birth who have transitioned to male.
Thank you, Lesley. I ask everyone to bear with me and be patient, as I am an old white guy.

Merch: Did you know there’s a Claytoonz store? My cartoons are printed on mugs, clothing, caps, and even a Peezy T-shirt. If you ever want a specific cartoon on some merch, let me know, and I’ll add it.

Tell Peezy to get outta there! Foxitosis is contagious! And if Irv is watching bobby brainworms, he may try to eat Peezy!
Thanks for watching Fox, so we don't have to!
One would think, after being sued by Dominion for $787.5M, maybe they would think twice before airing this s**t, day after day, but no, they're good just the way they are. They have to terrorize us and spread racist, sexist propaganda to uphold their infamous reputation.
Love the hair rollers, nervous, paranoid Irv, and the usual suspects taking in the scene.
