Another Redacted Witness
Elf on a shelf meets a creep who owns a beach
After yesterday's blog, I don't think I have anything else to write on this at the moment. I was mostly glad that I finished this up earlier than usual today, which was around 2 PM. I knew it would do well because the three people who saw it before publication laughed at it.
I wasn't looking to go deep today, and just wanted to have a little fun and not kill myself like I did the past two days. Most cartoonists usually take it easy during holiday weeks, especially on Christmas. Who knows what I'll do tomorrow? I am drawing tomorrow, but I don't know what I'm going to do on Friday or Saturday. I'm still taking this one day at a time.
A Facebook friend asked me a question today.
How close would you say you are to being back to before when it comes to the effort that goes into producing these gems? I think many of us under-appreciated the process before, but what you’ve gone through and the incredible level of recovery you’ve achieved have really put the effort you put into each of these in focus.
The message.... the multiple messages... in each piece mean a hell of a lot to all of us, but now we also have the underlying display of what you’re putting into your art and our little breaks from the goddam nightmare that’s taken over our country.
They’re more than humorous entertainment. They’re affirmation of the belief that we can make a difference.
It's a good question. But the answer is that I don't know. If my therapists don't know if full strength will ever return to my arm and leg, or if I will ever be able to straighten my right arm all the way ever again, I don't know if I'll ever be back to 100% of what I was before the stroke when it comes to drawing these things.
Today, someone on GoComics wrote that I am back.
Clay, you're definitely back; the artwork is as detailed as ever -- the caricature of Ghislaine is spot on! 👍🥰
At the very least, I'm back to the point that I can fool some people. You may not see it, but I do, and I definitely feel it.
I think my session yesterday with Nate was my last home session for physical therapy. I think today's session with Carol was my last for occupational therapy at home. I appreciate Nate and Carol, and I got to know them throughout these sessions on a personal level. I am going to miss them, but I'm glad the home sessions are over. There will be visits next week by both of their bosses so they can assess and discharge me. They have both been here twice before, and I'm looking forward to those visits being over, too.
I have a doctor’s appointment on the fifth, and that's when a request will be put in for outpatient rehab. I will continue rehabbing after those sessions are done, but I'm looking for them not to go longer than a month. We will see how it goes.
Of course, the therapy that includes drawing political cartoons will never stop.

Support your local cartoonist: If you want to support the cartoonist, please donate through PayPal to clayjonz@gmail.com, Venmo to clay-jones-87, or snail mail it to Clay Jones, P.O. Box 3721, Fredericksburg, VA 22402.
I also take Zelle.
All support is appreciated.
Signed prints and books: I cannot take orders for signed prints or for my books at this time. So please do not send me money or place orders for them until further notice. Because of the stroke, it is an ordeal for me to get to the post office, so we’re gonna hold up until I’m fully capable of doing so. Thank you for your understanding.
Merch: Did you know there’s a Claytoonz store? My cartoons are printed on mugs, clothing, caps, and even a Peezy T-shirt. If you ever want a specific cartoon on some merch, let me know, and I’ll add it.

Here's to your continuous improvement in mobility and dexterity,
I am happy for the progress made, and look forward for more. Happy to see eggs like pizza rat and Wilson appearing regularly. Excellent toon and blog.
